This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

GG people of this country died fighting two world wars to allow us the right to vote. Did our ancestors die in vain because we can't be bothered to vote to keep democracy? Politicians may do things in our name which as individuals we disagree with, but come an election WE can vote them out of a job. happy :)

You may think all politicians are corrupt but we put them there and we can remove them BUT ONLY BY USING THE VOTE WE ARE ENTITLED TO USE (if you have registered).

If GG genuinely believes what he says, he should go to the polling station and SPOIL his voting paper. Or is it just an excuse for lazyness.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he ( Gen Sir Richard Dannatt) said: "If they get to hear that we at home couldn't even be bothered to exercise our democratic right and go out to vote I think that will be a real kick in the teeth for them. I think we should reflect on that.

"I think if some of our young people, 10,000 of them, go out and fight for their nation in a really important cause in Afghanistan, the least people can do is go and vote."
