IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Please come forward the Half-witted Planner who thought up the idea of closeing 1 lane before the Silsden roundabout
Brilliant idea , just the start to the weekend everybody wants.Especially as there are no roadworks taking place at this moment in time !!!! . No notice of when the work is due to start of course so people could plan another way home that would require forward planning & that requires Intelligence .
So lets all hope who ever they are that they have as much time wasted as the public who pay thier wages will have . & they loose thier cushy little job soon

The work was being done on the Steeton to Kildwick section, whereby they coned off lane 1 of that section after the morning peak and removed the cones before the evening peak. Given that single lane operation began immediately after the roundabout, the likely reason for the Keighley to Steeton section being coned at the Steeton end was to force vehicles into single file ahead of the section being worked, rather than facilitate a free for all on and straight after the roundabout.

But they do.....

Try this page
streetandroadworks.bradford.gov.uk/webswr25/SymSearch.aspx

...and select Silsden as the area (in the second part of the form). Change the date to suit your search and voilą. happy :) or sad :( as the case may be. laugh :D

PS For a more general search of planned roadworks in this area use Craven (ward) as the search area selection.

Sorry Peter , but as much as I like modern day technology & information sharing this just dosen't work . A simple sign on the roundabout saying ,

ROADWORKS HERE
9-12-11 .
10.00 - 16.00

Reaches every driver who use's that road . Not just a few who know of a Brad Met website . Bet there would have been a sign if Jacobs well was going to be disrupted for 6 Hrs , but as its not in the centree of Bradford we don't have to bother .

Perhaps there should have been some advanced warning signs but they could have been a hazard in themselves for work which should have been completed out of peak time.

Wasn't the cones lined up along the side of the road the day before a bit of a clue? shocked 8O
