This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I have recently had the misfortune of having to use our towns public toilets. I decided never again after finding that there is no running water, soap or dryer. They are dark and dingy looking and you have to be desperate to use them. Does anyone know who is responsible for the up keep of these

I think now is the time to insist that they are brought up to a decent standard so that people visiting the town because they want to ride the Tour de France route leave with a good impression of us. On the actual day The Tour goes through they will be in great demand, and the toilets are an embarrassment.

I seem to remember something about the town council taking over responsibility for them.Maybe they could pay for an upgrade from the council tax precept?
I have used them when desperate but a lot of drivers stop to use them .It is getting very difficult nowadays to find a toilet anywhere I don't know how people who are on the road all day manage.

agree 100%. I am ashamed of the toilets and the 2 benches that are placed outside. Who is responsible for these as they should be ashamed because I am !!!

It says in the minutes that a working group was formed to look into the toilet issue so what has been the outcome then?

I absolutely agree, the toilets are dingier than a tramps toenail ... infact i am surprised there isnt a few tramps lodging in the toilets .... i once took my little'un into the toilets (as the library didn't have any we could use even though we were visiting the library at the time, and the co-op doesnt have any)and i was almost sick they were that filthy.

Maybe we should just poop in bags. hang em on tree's to go with all the dog mess.

Anyway, WHERE can I complain? I would very much like to write a letter of complaint and encourage others to do so ..... especially with the TDF this summer (how embarrasing having public toilets that disgusting) ...

Can anyone tell me who i best aim the complaint to?

Thanks happy :)

Not been into the toilets for years and wondered what the current state of them are with only a few weeks to go to the TDF.

I don't mind putting an hour or so in if they need bottoming, any one any idea of the situation?

As stated earlier they will get used as much as they ever have over the TDF weekend.

YOUR WISH IS GRANTED

David Griffiths (vicar St James) has organised a cleanup of the toilets on
FRIDAY 13 JUNE
at 12 midday

Meet at the toilets. happy :)

PS There will also be a town cleanup before the event (date and times TBA) and help will be required to put up bunting.

A good turn out of about 8, think i may have been one of only a couple who have not turned out before to a local clean up, thanks for the welcome.

A satisfactory job done given the condition but a surprisingly large building, wonder what it could be turned into when Bradmet finally close it down as i`m sure they will being they do not have a budget for repairs.
