There is at this moment a white transit van driving slowly around Silsden having a good look in everyones gardens. ps;its a van not a pick up |

Thanks for the heads up....It's good to keep an eye out for each other. Hermione, we all suspect what these scumbags are up to, but what exactly would or could the police do now? As far as I'm aware driving slowly around a residential area isn't a crime. |

did you get the reg number? I have seen a white transit driving slowly round Ingsway, lowfield crescent/Jennings close areas,I will get the number next time.I assumed they were looking for scrap. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) there has been a DVLA van around this morning,that was a white transit,but had 4 cameras on top and said DVLA on the back so probably not the same one you spotted,thanks for the look out though,will keep an eye out. |

No its not the DVLA van and yes I got the reg number. I cant post it as I didnt see them doing anything wrong just suspicious. |

it was on kent ave today and also barrett street last week made me look has it has gaffer tape on the rotten doors and a large rusty scape down the side he was pickin up charity bags on the days woodland just rung them and waiting for me to ring me back has anyone else get the same bags throw |

Well I guess driving around isn't quite the same as loitering. We have a guy recently on Keighley Road knocking on doors who seemed to be trying to knock on doors on Sundays (tis being the Sunday before last) for some of sales thing or over. I think he was put off by the snarling hound that greated him on the other side of our front window and scrarpered, he wasn't dressed in a very salesman like way. With that and vans driving around it is getting slightly worrying. I would suggest putting something in the PSCO box each time we see something suspicious but I once did it when someone had tried our front door in the of the night as they again scarpered having heard the dog, but noone opened the letter in the box for about 2 months. |

ive seen it as well but if its doing no wrong the p****E dont want to know,,as for the dvla van with cameras on it got quite a few un taxed/unmotd and uninsured cars,it dosnt matter where the car is now if it hasnt been sorned and off the road u av been got, big fine and penalty points an uninsured car off the road can still be done if not sorned beware????!!!!!!! |

Hi From time to time I see what I consider to be suspicious looking characters going round where I live (Waterside). When the burglaries were ongoing I contacted the local policing team via the online contact form to ask if they would want to know about anything like this (not that I'd seen anything at that time but just for when I did). The response was that they would want to know - see link for contact details - www.westyorkshire.police.uk/npt/area.asp?id=248 Also suggested that I note reg nos of any vehicles. They may not respond at the time but guess info may come in helpful later. |

We had some guy knock on ours the other day. Daughter answered and he told her our chimney was leaning and did we want it taken down. Idiot. Our chimney stacks are fine, we had a roofer up there not long since checking everything out. Makes me wonder if it's an excuse to check out the lie of the land before coming back later. |

As far as I know most of these bags are delivered and collected by profit making companies on behalf of the charities taking some of the proceeds as profit from donated items. |

there's a vast difference between someone driving round and picking up waste without a licence and breaking and entering. Couldn't care less about the former - bit more worried about the latter - however, the roads are free to drive on and not all white vans are full of thieves, please bear this in mind before making assumptions. Valid concerns should be forwarded to the police otherwise you just look like someone who is trying to get rid of some opposition to their business. |

Well, I quite clearly state that i am bothered about thieves but as we don't know that they are thieves my advice was to report said vans to the police, constantly posting their number plate on here will do little to stop them whether they are legal, criminals or unlicenced. I see white vans all the time in Silsden, do i need to report them all? no! So yes, i do bother about things outside my little world (which is clearly bigger than some folk's) but i operate a live and let live policy and unless you have proof that these vans are criminals, i am afraid there is nothing you can do |

Its common sense if you see something suspicious then report it. I started this thread and without giving the reg No out so people could keep an eye out just in case. Several people have reported seein a certain van lookng suspicious. Funnily enough I can say now that the van mentioned most is the van I saw. If they are not doing anything wrong then they wont have anything to fear. If they are then at least the community is keeping a lookout. |
