For those who think current problems are new problems I recommend this book. This is the Amazon link. I think it is out of print but should be available from a library.

anyone else noticed the hells angels wannabes on there mopeds using the industrial estate as a race track?
as i was walking down there yesterday one overshot
ryefield way and skidded out into belton road

you can imagine there parents reaction if they had skidded under a car or truck and been killed
the evil car /truck driver should be strung up and beaten with a nail covered baseball bat

(for the record it wasnt icy it was the idiot rider seeing how fast he could go down ryefield and not braking in time)
i believe the speed limit down there is 30

i suppose the 1 laudable thing is at least there doing it down by the industril estate were theres no kids playing
but im guessing this is more to do with not being caught than harming others

they had learner plates on there mopeds looks like they havent learnt not to ride like idiots yet

Sunday afternoon about 3PM ish? You say they were on road legal mopeds? Not mini motos?
Get their reg numbers and ring them into the police, then they can be traced, if they are mini motos with no reg plates try and find out where they go back to and ring this info in.

nope road legal normal mopeds
im sure there not 50cc ones (can only do 30mph) as the 3 kids using these were changing gears 50cc mopeds are twist and go

in the past ive also seen them screaming up howden road
(well as fast as a moped can scream)

Seems like everyone is acting their age. Kids rushing around on mopeds and grandad complaining. Ancient greeks had similar problems. Nothing new under the sun.

Wahiba, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you can actually read. This being so then you should have read it was not I who was complaining! I was the one asking questions and then advising.
As a motorcyclist myself I have nothing against legal law abiding riders, I do however object to, fools who ride around acting plain stupid on bikes getting all of us a bad name.
As for the ones riding on illegal, uninsured, taxed or tested bikes, then they deserve all they get, and that can be a £200 pound fine 3 penalty points on their licence and the vehicle confiscated.

Whilst I wouldn't condone such behaviour by anyone, I would have thought the alleged 65% of drivers who drive around certain areas of Bradford without insurance are far more of a danger to society in this instance, and more deserving of police attention.

Thanks pumbajunior for highlighting this problem. It is inspiring to see that you are prepared to do something to help take these lads to task. For everyone else who thinks it should be left up to the police or STC or Mr somebody else, will you still think that way if somewhat down the line these lads run into You- Your CHILD- or Parent killing or maiming them. Will you wish then you had of done something?. The same goes for the car drivers who think they are being clever when they flash oncomming drivers to alert them of Police Speed Checks. Will they still be laughing if one of their family is hit by a speeding driver?."Your Family- Your Silsden- Your Responsability".

I agree 'grandad' but what do the police do in Bradford with the number plate recognition on the CCTV when it flags a car up?

Answer - nothing because there are too many alerts!

im not saying these kids are uninsured (i have no idea)
but they are riding dangerously and too fast so the numbers will be noted and passed on if i see them again (which im sure i will)

i think they must be insured as ive seen the community support officers talking to them in the car park by the library

All it needs is some good old-fashioned community policing, i.e. the PC's or PCSO's having a quiet word in the ear of the kids, no drama, no hassle!

I SUPPOSE THESE HOOLIGAN SCOOTER RIDERS COULD ALWAYS SELL THERE BIKES AND BECOME LIKE MOST TEENAGERS IN OTHER TOWNS AND START TAKING DRUGS AND ROBBING CARS AND HOUSES TO PAY FOR THERE ADDICTIONS, MAYBE WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL THIS IS ALL YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT.!!!!!

Got to admit that I have some sympathy with 'BOBBIT's' comments.

Like I said earlier it's an everyday minor problem that could be dealt with by some sympathetic community policing, i.e. a chat with the kids!

THERES NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN SAY THAT ANYMORE THESE DAYS. ALL I KNOW IS WHEN THESE LADS WERE RIDING PUSH BIKES AROUND THE VILLAGE, THEY WAS SLATED, 12 MONTHS ON, THEY HAVE A NEW INTEREST, SLATED AGAIN.! ONE THING THESE LADS CANT BE ACCUSED OF I SUPPOSE IS DRINKING ON STREET CORNERS AND CAUSING BOTHER.??? OR MAYBE THEY CAN CARRY THE CAN FOR THAT TOO..

I sorry you take that view Bobbitt. I heard a similar story from the Police when they took a drunken under age youth home to their parents " Why don't you go into Keighley and arrest some drug dealers, instead of harrasing youths having fun".So Bobbitt, far from trying to spoil their fun, some people are trying to protect them from further danger. It's the "Broken Window Syndrome" ( keep on top of the first broken window and the whole street dosen't become ghetto).I happen to believe it is up to us all to look after our youth, after all they are the ones who will be looking after us in the future years.

BELEIVE ME I UNDERSTAND FROM ALL ANGLES, HOWEVER ONE OF THESE HELLS ANGELS WANNABES AS EARLIER CALLED IS MY SON. I RIDE A MOTORCYCLE MYSELF AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE DANGERS OF NOT RIDING SAFELY ETC.I WOULD HOPE HE HAS THE SAME UNDERSTANDING. WHAT ANNOYS ME IS HE GETS UP EVERY MORNING, GOES TO WORK EARNS A WAGE, TO PAY ROAD TAX AND INSURANCE ON HIS BIKE RIDES AROUND WITH A FEW MATES AND GETS CLASSED AS A HOOLIGAN. IT SEEMS MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE FINDING THEMSELVES AN INTEREST TOO.

I know where you are coming from Bobbitt. I have been a member of M.A.G.for many years.I have fought for the rights of bikers both in UK and Europe. I am sure, like me, you have been called a Hells Angel too, "Sicks and stones" rise above it. If your son is one of them being daft then I will have spoken to them and have explained I am all for them having a bike and having fun. But I have seen them on a number of occasions been very very stupid to the point where I thought one of them is going to kill HIMself.I am as pleased as you that he is working and not doing drugs but two wrongs don't make a right.People are only trying to point out that, when they think the police aren't watching they are being stupid. Please don't be so defensive, it is better these things are being pointed out before it is too late. "Safe Riding".

the kids on mopeds that i saw werent being safe
as i said before one came too fast to the end of the road and slid out into the middle of the road if a car/truck had been coming down they would be underneath it and at best in airedale A & E at worst in a coffin

BOBIT im not saying it was your son i saw im just saying the 3 kids i saw were acting like idiots
there are laws and rules of the road to be obeyed if on an industrial estate or not

i guess you could praise them that there not doing this on the main road though i have seen them going well over the speed limit down keighley road and up howden road

there are speed limits to abide by
i must admit though youths in chaved out cars are worse
i have nothing against law abiding bikers i myself would never have one as i think your too vulnerable on them but have nothing against sensible riders

and before you start shouting about leave them alone why not take a trip down the industrial estate when there arseing around and see if you think there being safe

The best way to be an idiot on a motorcycle is to wear a white helmet, a black jacket with a sam browne reflective belt and if possible have a white fairing. Also the bike should be no bigger than a 250.
You can weave through traffic, cut up all the motorists and generally have fun on the way to and from work.
Worked for me, and the 'hells angels' in their 'life style' gear got picked up.
I had a moped once. A Raleigh. No suspension, rim brakes and one gear. Great fun.

These youths have been spoken to be local officers, they have not been victimised they have been some given sound advice, in the hope they will listen and thereby maybe live long enough to grow out of some of the undesirable aspects of their behaviour.
When I was their age I also had a motorbike (Still do) we used to go out into the countryside to enjoy the freedom the bikes gave us.
If these youths want to coexist with the good people of Silsden in harmony, perhaps they to could go out for a run, I for one would be willing to lead them on a run one Sunday morning, maybe up to Kirkby Lonsdale to see the bike there.
How about it Alan would you be willing to help, or any bikers with a bit of time to spare in a good cause?
