What is it with you people on here? No wonder Bradford council have lost interest in the town, all you lot do is moan and winge. I dread to think what people think when they read comments from certain members, these people have not one good thing to say about anyone and anything in Silsden so why let them post, Peter I really do think you should have a word! You reprimanded one member for saying what we all feel about these so called do gooders of the town, when if you look back at the beginning of his post it was a certain member who started with the negative comments, in what I believe to be deliberate attempt to gain a reaction from originator. I know quite a few people now who think that this forum is turning into a joke because of all the abuse that is given out by a select few to genuine members…… |

I can understand that it's tiresome reading what you feel are whinges and moans just for the sake of it. But ultimately at least the people on here who are expressing their point of view do seem to care somewhat about the town.
If you think there's too much negative stuff being written then why don't you write positive stuff as a counterpoint? I mean really your post is almost ironic because you're moaning about other people moaning.
You might not care if the ramp meets whatever regulations there are governing such things, but the council should care and should follow the regulations. Just because it doesn't directly affect you it doesn't follow that it's all fine. People complain/protest/fight for the causes of other people all the time even though they are not directly affected themselves.
I think calling people stupid and telling them to shut up (not saying you've done this btw) is basically an admission that you've lost the arguement and have no valid points to make. I think some people on here do spout a load of old nonsense, but I'd argue for their right to do that, as long as they're not being offensive, and by that I mean personal attacks and insults, racist/sexist slurs and so on, not just expressing views that I disagree with.
At the end of the day I don't think anyone is holding a gun to your head and making you read every post on here. If you're fed up of people talking about dog muck don't click the thread with dog muck in the title.
Some people make a hobby out of being outraged at things, some people make a hobby of being outraged at other people's outrage... ad inifinitum. I'm sure you don't want to be one of these people. |

Jonno Yes is can agree with most of your comments, it just infuriates me when members do post positive comments on what's going on in and around Silsden, only then for some clown the turn it into a negative thread by way of stupid comments. I really do think these people sit at home waiting for posts to be added so they can attack the comment and the members, I have read so many on here that were started as a plus point to end up in a free for all. Imagine someone looking at moving to Silsden....if they read this site they would run a mile, |

I think you will find they same tone with most sites of this type. The internet is a good way of blowing off steam anonymously (well so long as you do not suggest criminal or libellous actions).
This should be treated as a positive as in the past not everyone felt they could have their say. With the www everyone can have their say. Whether anyone heats or listens is a different matter.
It is called progress and change - I welcome it. Come come all, spout your opinions. I may not agree with you, but will defend to the death you right to have those opinions.
Note: suggestion harm to another person is not an opinion. It is a nasty threat. |

Jonno - Please allow me to respond to your comment following my Zumba class announcement.
Your comment "And will your subsequent classes mean the Elizabeth Philips dance classes get kicked out of the town hall completely? They've already had to vacate the room with the mirrors and the proper "bar" for ballet classes to accomodate your second class"
When booking the hall, one needs to liaise with an administrator based in Bradford who checks all the current hires have not paid the use the rooms in question for the new hirer. I can assure you that I have not "kicked out" Elizabeth from using the Ballroom as to my knowledge she isn't scheduled to hire out that specific space on a Thursday evening. If Liz had booked the room I would have not been able to take the space for the zumba classes.
For the Monday evening I will be using the ballroom once Liz has finished her dance classes so you can rest assured that her classes will take place as usual.
I did find your comment rather unnecessary and I am not sure from what source you were given the incorrect information. I will be speaking to Liz about this discussion as I am sure she would like to be kept in the loop.
Just to clarify - when I made the hall reservation (quite some time ago) the ballroom wasn't assigned to any other user - hence it being available to book by myself.
Warm Regards,
Helen |

Being involved with Elizabeth Phillips Dance School for over 20 years and now being able to use the fantastic new facilities at the town hall, I would be very wary of listening to rumours about us being asked to move because of other users. Good luck to ZumbaHelen we wish you all the best, another user for the new town hall, got to be good news.

Helen, perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick then and it's not your classes if this is the case I apologise, however, my daughter does ballet and she definitely told me that one of the ballet classes was having to do bar work in the ballroom in the first part of their lesson and then pick up all their gear and move to another room for the rest of the lesson so that zumba could have the ballroom.
This sounds unreasonable to me, if Liz has paid for the room and it's the only one with a bar then why should she have to vacate it?
That said, I don't want to de-rail this thread so if you want to discuss this further by all means email me: jonnno at gmail.com |

Hi Jonno. Your apology is welcomed as you most certainly did get the wrong end of the stick. Your comment could potentially damage my classes so please be careful to check your facts before you speak publicly.
Just to confirm -
When I spoke to the town hall administrator to confirm my sessions they assured me no other hirer is scheduled to use the room. I suggest you air your concern to Liz as she will be able to tell you exactly which rooms she has booked at what time.
