if you walk from the road over the stile and up the field to the nab there is a small wood to the right it is known localy as dead wood any body know why is it because a lot of the trees look dead ? |

Do you mean White Crag Plantation, that's what it says on the OS maps? |

I only know it as dead wood a lot of tree are old and broken down not mutch like a plantaion to me perhaps it can be open to let people pay to plant a tree |

I know it as Nab wood,my lad and I went for a walk alongside it last summer,the trees must be a type of pine because i sent the lad over the wall to get some pine cones which i have planted in my garden. |

does anyone have any background as to why this plantation is there? Its obviously not native but the trees don't look suitable for felling & for the 20+ years i've been climbing the Nab there's never been any activity. |
