Our High Courts have struck again! Another known terrorist will be released from maximum security prison, because a 10 year bid to deport him to his native Jordan has failed. Keeping him inside us deemed unlawful. To add insult to injury, it is estimated that. Itwill cost somewhere in the region of £5 million per year to monitor and keep him safe!! What about the safety and well-being of genuine English nationals? |

Yes I agree that it is galling to think of the cost and the insult of keeping such a man and not deporting him to Jordan. However, I am very aware that this country from the time of Magna Carta has stood up for human rights and that these rights are enshrined in law. Those rights protect every single one of us and however galling it may be, it would be a sad day if they were not upheld. |

Whilst I fully understand the need for human rights, why is it that the majority of the cases we hear about are thoroughly bad people using this loop hole? Even the Queen expressed her views on this matter, so who are we to question why are they here. The brave young folk that are going to be redundant with the cuts in Armed forces may be better deployed in manning our borders, then we might see a reduction in Asylum seekers and benefit cheats. |

The freedom our country wants and cherishes is based in law and has been hard-won. A reduction in human rights will move our country back towards the kinds of governance that produce terrorism and extremism. Which is probably what Abu Qatada and his like would want. Our way is right and just. |

I agree with the principle of human rights for all. West Yorkshire Police Authority have a budget of £4!1.7 million this year. They are one of the largest forces in this country. If the aforementioned terrorist was to be placed under curfew in this county, the police authority would then be tied to spending 1.24% of that budget on one individual. How can that be justified? Add to that, the figure that this "delectable neighbour" will inevitably receive in state handouts, medical care and all the rest!! Granted, I have taken the news broadcasts at face value. I do not believe, for one minute, that this individual, will not be in touch with terrorist cells at the first opportunity available to him! |

Localman - you ask "what about my rights" what do you mean? |

How naive people are. Human Rights by definition must apply to everyone - including those that the majority feel should not have them. We could of course start by removing human rights from obnoxious members of our society. Extremist terrorists suspects (no need to actual prove someone is a terrorist, just call them one) Paedophiles (again no need for legal proof, dead or alive!) Murdering drunk drivers Witches - we all need a good bonfire now and again Fascists Communist Socialists Capitalists Bankers and I am sure everyone could add someone whom they find obnoxious to the list. Just be careful what one wishes for. That arch imperialist tory Winston Churchill had an experience or two of real obnoxious people when he created and then signed us up to the European convention on human rights. Having to carry a few obnoxious plonkers is a small price to pay for human rights for all and what goes with it. |

To Gamekeeper. You seem to be concerned about human rights and what is happening generally. Have a look at this post, general Forum/ Cameron/posted by window 23/02/2013 : 22:44:47 and 25/02/2013 : 13:32:25 |

Surprise, surprise, Abu Qatarda has broken his bail conditions already! It was 4 months ago since I opened this thread. I appreciate the validity of the human rights for all concept, but a firm line should be drawn for individuals of this nature. The circumstances of the breach, as far as I am aware, have not been broadcast as yet. I would personally put money on it being communications related. |

Just been to Lincoln where I visited the castle. it is one of four places in England that houses a copy of the Magna Carta. I found the video presentation interesting that shortly after it was drawn up, it was abandoned briefly. causing civil war. Interestingly enough, premier Margaret Thatcher, attempted to have an international Magna Carta drawn up. Looking at the global terrorism issues that the world powers face today, it.might be a good thing she didn't pull it off. Sorry Peter, I know it isn't a local issue per se, but I think this important for all of us. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21732958 Government solicitors state that the Jordanian government ban the use of torture to extract information from prisoners. It begs the question of how he won his last appeal. |

quote....... preachers of hate. Define hate. Define a preacher. |

Good point Old_miner. There is an old saying that hate is so close to love. Definition of a preacher in the usual sense, is a member of a recognized religious group. In this sense, it is an extremist individual, breaking away from his religious beliefs, Hell bent on destruction. I have done a couple of searches on this individual and found that he did attend various mosques, not staying long at any of them. The Qu'ran, the information I have read on it, does NOT, advocate violence against fellow men. |

I have just read the BBC news this morning online and found that Abu Quatada and his team are already looking at returning to the European Court to appeal deportation. This "individual" has been in this country since 1993. He broke bail conditions within 3 months of it being granted. How much more will he cost this country? How long will this farce continue? What has he cost the country so far in legal aid, police resources, transport, welfare benefits, human life??? Don't forget that all the time that this individual remains in this country, whether on bail or inside his cosy Belmarsh prison cell, he is costing Silsden Tax payers money that could be used to repair highways and assets! |

With changes to the system of legal aid payments being implemented this month, illegal immigrants can no longer claim legal aid. Some judges negate this by keeping them locked up, instead of deportation. |
