Today the Town was taken over by a film crew, recording for the TV show The Royal.
The Town council were not asked for there views on this, there was no warning about it; the first they knew was when the Bridge St car park was coned off; last night.
The crew brought with them a traffic management firm, the same as used by a road repair gang. Unless it is an emergency job; road works have to be advertised in the local press before they start. I don’t believe there was anything in the local press about this, so under what powers were they operating?
What if anything is the film company paying to the people of Silsden for the disruption/ loss of business caused by their presence?
I do hope this is not a case of Bradford organising it and taking any payment that has been made for this. But it wouldn’t surprise me is that is the way it works.

I was told (BY THE FILM COMPANY)that they organised it with Bradford the day before by telephone!

In my opinion the film company acted with deplorable disregard for the people of Silsden as did Bradford!

I was also told by representatives of the film company that they were paying Bradford!

So, traffic was disrupted for a few hours, but did any body notice the prices of meat in the renamed Bradleys Butchers, it was like being back in the 1960's !!!!!

I think it was amusing that they renamed the taxi office, the butchers and the cobblers but Jeffs barbers shop remained as it was....

So for a bit of disruption it gave the people of Silsden something to talk about, the owners of the businesses affected a few quid for the use of the properties and we can all look forward to seeing Silsden on the telly for 30 seconds when the new series of the Royal is broadcast....

I thinks it's better for Silsden to be in a TV show (albeit allegedly set in Scarborough) rather than on the TV news for something untoward !

Stop whining, celebrate the towns moment of fame and support the fun day on Sunday !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes definitely support the Fun Day. Remember it is now taking place on the green up Bradley Road, not in the park. (To Wet)

But back to the Topic, Why should Bradford get anything from the disruption caused in Silsden?
If there is money to be had from this, and it appears there is, then it should come to us, the fun day is being held to raise funds for the Town, so why not put this money; however small it is into the pot.

@ tetleydrinker

As with any production there are a lot of scenes that do not make the final cut.

That said it is also very common that most scenes can be a mix of a few different places meaning that it won't be too obvious where the scene was shot at.

There were no notices about the closure of the road or part of the car park (although they were coning it all off at one point until someone had a talk with them).
