Grandad a male born 20/12/1955 will get a bus pass 20/12/2021. |

From 6 April 2010 people are no longer eligible to receive a free bus pass on the day they reach their 60th birthday. Instead both men and women become eligible for a pass in line with the rise in the age at which women become eligible for a state pension. This is rising on a sliding scale, from 60 to 65, between 2010 and 2020. |

I've had a look at the calculator again, ggs birthday 20/12/1955 State Pension calculator You’ll reach State Pension age on 20 December 2021. Your State Pension age is 66 years. You should get your pension claim pack shortly before you reach your State Pension age. Once you claim your State Pension, the Pension Service will work out your full State Pension. |

Now then get a load of this. If you live in England or Wales In England you can get a bus pass for free travel when you reach the female State Pension age, whether you’re a man or a woman. If you live in London, you can travel free on buses, tubes and other transport when you’re 60, but only within London. In Wales you can get a bus pass when you reach 60. |

And before you ask ( no there isn't any free rail travel ) see senior railcard link. www.senior-railcard.co.uk/ |

if u show your bus pass i think they still knock off 20/25% at the rail office but not sure on this as have not tried it |
