The Co-Operative, owned by its members and not money grubbers, is doing a great job.
If the tory free enterprise brigade cannot compete with the peoples owned co-operative, then tough.
Tax payers subsidise the tory banks, so I suppose they will want subsidies for tory shops next.
As for Lidl? I do not think Silsden is poor enough to justify a Lidl. Wouldn't mind though. |

Why not solve a problem, and put a new Lidl (or Aldi) where the council propose a waste management site? And the site across the road could be a new car park to encourage visitors to come to Silsden and see what we have to offer. Simples. |

Well, here's a few:- Canal, boating holidays,good pubs, good takeaways, excellent country walks,friendly churches like new Methodist Church trying to attract visitors,good cafes, good shops, a leading wedding dress shop, children's park inc. skateboard park , excellent sports facilities (new soccer ground), band stand to come, duck pond, lots of history to develop. Come on...can anybody add some more...I've made a start? Don't be modest, let's hear it for Silsden! |

Silsden is very pretty (apart from the dog poo),great walks, friendly people. Would be good to attract more people to visit to support the shops and restaurants. Restaurant are struggling during the week. There is nothing worse than seeing empty shops & restaurants. A supermarket would be good bringing employment to local residents. Co-op often run out!!! Going off the subject slightly, can we have a running track around the park? I know lots of people who would use it. The park is just a mud bath and it's very hilly for beginners. It ould be good for disabled, as well as families who want to go around the park without sinking into it |

What a silly idea! Within a few months you would kill off the few shops wen still have in the high street. The Coop has killed off many and another supermarket would sound teh death nell of those left.
Sorry peter the subject is veg shop isn't it? The veg shops we had were killed off by the coop a long time ago. |

Why does every subject posted just lately turn into either a political debate or a slanging match?!?! |

a note for cobbydale fruit and veg ,i`ve been in on two ocassions old folk where stuggling with the steps,one old couple told you it was hard,,the last time it was open as fruit and veg shop he had the back door open which is easier for them to tackle and i think people in wheel chairs could get through that way as well,so lets hope u take the hint cheers. |

@dogcatcher
I am onto the handles, its only a matter of time,
being a sole trader means just that and i cant be in two places at the same time, I am sorting it as fast as possible,
for wheelchair access it is not ideal, getting in through the back is just as bad, there is a step there too,
I have already spoken to the landlord about this and he has said that he is putting planning in for shop fronts on bolton road side, this should include a ramp or no step at all.
thank you for the heads up though. |
