The North Yorkshire boys are this week out in force(!) with men on the ground looking for seat belt dodgers and car drives on the phone.They have their number plate reader and associated cars and bikes catching unisured drivers. So what have the West Yorks boys been upto.Well they spotted some cars with a wheel parked a foot onto the 20ft grass verge just up from Steeton station.Serious case of obstruction if ever I saw one.Tickets issued no messing.Even if the drivers were just trying to help the traffic keep flowing. Now this will improve road safety how exactly?.As there are no yellow lines here from tomorrow you can bet these cars will park all 4 wheels on the road. So if you travel up station road allow plenty of extra time for the traffic to get passed the parked cars. Well done West Yorks police |

The new trafic problem in Steeton is caused by the old chestnut; Borderhoppers. I.E. North Yorkshire residents taking advantage of cheap fares paid for by West Yorkshire Ratepayers. If travellers had to prove their right to cheap fares as do the over 60s this problem would be solved at a stroke. North Yorkshire Council could pay to extend the subsidy to Skipton. |

Very true robin! Trouble is OAP's in Waterside Silsden now get free bus passes and Metro have taken away the bus! Maybe the "borderhoppers" who park at Steeton should pay a contribution towards the money they are taking from Metro for OUR buses! |

Roads are for travelling on, not parking on. All on road parking obstructs the flow of traffic. The parking problem at the station would be solved by North Yorkishire paying to extend the metro card system on the trains at least to Skipton. Also a new station at Crosshills, maybe called Crosshills carpark station would solve the problem. |
