This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

i would just like to express my disgust at the area for toddlers in the park, i am a mother of two my children are aged 2+yrs and 18months, and they love the park its well equipt for them and the swings slides etc are wonderfull. what isnt so wonderfull is the amount of broken glass i find (and pick up) nearly every time we visit, also on occasions my husband and i have found used condoms on the floor, also half smoked joints, cans of beer strewn across the enclosure. surely we are not the only parents that find this not only discusting, unsafe and definatly unaceptable. why isnt this 'dangerous rubbish' cleared before the park is full of inquizative young children............ we are planning to attend the next council meeting to broach this subject and are hopeing to take a petition with us. if you are interested in signing you will find them in local shops, schools and pubs as from next week.

I have complained to brad met on several ocaisions about the state of our park and to be honest dont get very far.The park is cleaned once a week and bins emptied and if it gets in a state inbetween its tough!I once rang Brad met to complain that when the council workers had been littter was left behind. The woman on the phone asked what was left so I listed a few items I knew was there.About an hour later a van came with 2 men, they got out, picked up what I had listed and promptly left. What on planet do these people live on???

Improvements to the play facilities in the park have been instigated by the Youth Group (well done to them)but unfortunately there are others who leave bottles, cans and worse around, leaving the park in a filthy state for all other users. It needs someone on the spot keeping an eye on and maintaining the public areas not just a ranger or a remote team that appears only intermittently. BradMet also seems to have a policy of not lighting the park so it is a no go area at night for the majority. A good first step is to go to the council meeting and letting the powers that be know that things need to improve. Has anyone else any suggestions for making the park and Silsden a place to be proud of?

The park is a disgrace which is such a shame when it should be enjoyed, I drive to other parks to avoid what is sometimes found in the toddler area (last time it was a used condom)in Silsden. When I was small we used to have a park keeper - Sutton still have one & Glusburn too, these parks are locked at night (which I know we can't do) and the fact someone is constantly around during the day means the parks are well tendered & looked after. Bring back our Parky!

Very distrubing pots re conditon of Park.
Another disagreeable aspect is the dog owners who used children play areas all the Sport and Recreational Space as a toilet area for their dogs, and fields too. Liquids and 'solid 'deposits are dangerous to the health of humans and can caused animals to abort. Even if dog owners do attempt to clear 'it' up there is always a residue. Do refer to Scientific Journals for full details. Was not there a young Silsden man blinded through this unsavoury practice??
