Watching the local TV news this morning it was implied 300 new houses were going to be built on the old gala field - that's the area next to Habasit Rossi, where the horses are.
Is this true? |

how wonderful! imagine having your own swimming pool. you could even charge others to use it. look seriously, bradford will pass planning for houses because to them it's an extra £1000.00 a year council tax straight to them. |

Surely that piece of land would be zoned for industrial use. I suspect they meant the bit across the road which is zoned for housing. |

have been in touch with habasit rossi who own the land, and they are being bombarded with calls, but state categorically they have not sold the land for housing developement and have no intention of doing so, they suggest it is the land opposite them. |

The news on BBC (local)said 300 new homes, the Sykes Lane development is for about 120 isn't it?
Wasn't the Sykes Lane development plan to get rid of excess surface water to let it go into Silsden Beck? Perhaps they should rethink this one in the light of recent events. |

"alliecoward" well, errrr, yes!
If I was cynical I would say that it was a convenient story just after Silsden was on the national news! |

The was someone from Silsden on the breakfast show on BBC Radio Leeds this morning going on about the development. I didn't hear it as it was on about 10 minutes after I arrived at work (it was the next feature item). If you go to the website bbc.co.uk/radioleeds you can listen the the breakfast show from this morning, this is what I am going to do when I get in from work. The item was on between 7.10 and 7.30. |
