well done the new owners keeping prices alot nearer other local stations ie keighley & xhills than previous owners did,i use it again now... .the station is also a drop off point for myhermes parcels which knocks the postage prices down BY 50p to £2 depending on weight as they dont have to be collected from different addresses |

I trust you put that the wrong way round Doggy, or it would be a 400% increase?
On a serious note, that is good to hear. It shouldn't cost a tenner to fill a gallon can of petrol!! |

By suggesting £0.06 - £0.07 pence cheaper I assume you are talking about Asda... In that case it is no surprise they are selling petrol cheaper. Please remember that Asda is unmanned and sells petrol 24/7.
To pay salaries to man that, and therefore make it a truer comparison, would cost around £100,000 a year. They would only need to dispense just short of 1.5 million liters at the higher price to recoup that. So as they are selling in excess of 5 million liters they are actually making a lot more profit on the petrol they sell than the Silsden station.
In other words Asda are actually charging you too much….
The fairer comparisons are the other petrol stations in Keighley which I’m sure dogcatcher was referring too.
Also remember that by employing staff, whether it is family or not, the Silsden petrol station is putting money back in to the economy and stopping your taxes going towards more benefits whilst Asda simply makes more profit per liter. |

There should be fair competition and Asda sell cheaper to get people into store. On the other hand 7p/litre is over 30p a gallon difference |

When the Herbert Green ran the filling station down their, an attendant filled the car for you and dispensing Parrafin for those that wanted it.
It's a far cry from what it is now. Back then the Toyota garage and Herbert Wass, now the funeral directors all dispensed petrol.
Ah, the good old days!!
Looking at the pricing of fuel, the supermarket chains might well be cheaper in the short term, but in the long term, it could well cost extra. Supermarket fuel does not contain many of the additives that mainline companies use, which could cause premature engine failure. |

Hey gamekeeper just check your locations and names for the garages that you mentioned Wasses was opposite the Grouse, Toyota ok, but the funeral directors was Bill Mortiss who also garaged cars overnite |

i made a mistake there. When I was in Hothfield Street, it was Longbottom & Greens. They dispensed petrol from what is now the funeral directors and general mechanical works from a shed further up, that is now newly built flats. |
