Statement from Been Busy Directors The Been Busy shop is closing its doors on Friday 23rd September. Regretfully the wonderful craft shop Been Busy in Silsden will close its doors to uniquely handcrafted gifts and cards. Angela Malcolm’s idea, born from her love of crafting, together with her husband Neil and a network of other talented crafters (many who are Carers) opened Been Busy in November 2014. The idea was to showcase gifts and cards lovingly and locally made. It became a not for profit Community Interest Company in June 2015. Unfortunately, with overheads to be fulfilled, the shop could not sustain itself. The current road works around Silsden has only made this worse. On the plus side, Been Busy has also been a retreat for making friends and learning new crafting skills for people who needed to have a reason to leave the shelter of their home. Fortunately, the Been Busy workshops will carry on in locations in Silsden with the same and different enthusiastic tutors. For those who have not visited this unique shop, you have until the 23rd September. For people in Silsden, you don't have to fight the traffic to shop - Been Busy is in the centre of Silsden next to the duck pond! |

As an addition to this we have received a number of very kind messages since this announcement on social media and via email. To look a the positives since we opened in November 2014. We have old around £11,000 of locally handmade gifts and cards for over 45 crafters who have held stock in the shop. We have run over 250 different workshops or drop-in sessions that have been attended by local folk and in some cases really made a difference to their lives. As stated we do intend to keep Been Busy going as a not for profit Community Interest Company and look keeping the workshops running at local venues. We will also look at an online route for selling products. |
