It was sold before xmas - looks like a landlord from Bradford - just advertising for someone to rent it at the moment. Guess it will end up as flats or offices..... |

Excellent news. I honestly didn't think that it would reopen as a public house again. I will make a point of coming down and trying the beer out.
Any idea on when in April? How many beers will be available? How often will they change? |

hi we are hoping to be open around the begining of april(if all workmen turn up when supposed to) we are having just two cask lines put in to see how it goes as where we are now they are not lovers of cask ale(more fools them lol) so i am not up on what is popular at min and what isnt so all suggestions are welcome as for the lap dancing that was my husbands stupid sense of humour he used it for facebook for our other pub site as a joke to set up so called auditions(not happening lol) we intend to just open the red lion as just your everyday pub offering nice decent priced drinks and a variety of entertainment ..so could anyone tell me did the pub have a darts n dominoes and pool team if so have they moved else where also do they play poker games in the area or would that be of interest also discos /karaoke is that a good choice or not all suggestions welcome (long as they r not rude lol) many thanks tracey |

However probably better to start with one established brand + one guest beer. There are plenty of local breweries, Saltaire,Ilkley and Copper Dragon. I think there is one in Silsden (Barley Bottom) |

locally brewed real ale would be good, would not want disco/karaoke pubs is probably a bit small for that.will you be doing food? we could do with a pub that serves high quality food although I suppose space might be an issue.Darts and doms teams good idea not sure about poker don't think you should encourage gambling.Depends what age group you are hoping to attract really, hopefully not the younger end as they are the ones who usually end up fighting!! |

I have tried a few beers from Barley Bottom. He is a small enterprise and his beers are excellent. I would recommend anyone who likes real ale to give him a try, with the added bonus of it being local!
Copper Dragon, Theakstons, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor, all relatively local.
I think the Lion did have a domino team, but it was over a decade ago, I'm not sure. I don't remember it having a dartboard, so I doubt it will have had a team.
It was the home of the Sewer Rats for as long as I remember.
How about themed quiz nights? Prizes for both winners and runners up. |

can I add a bid for us wine drinkers please. there are a few local pubs that do good beer but it is hard to find a nice pub where a gal can relax with her girlfriends and have a nice glass of wine! Can we have style and class instead of karaoke and poker please. good luck with the venture, hope you will be happy in Silsden. |

As an ex sewer rat - its always had a dart board, and a good darts and dom team (wednesdays and mondays). I think the new owners would welcome your suggestions - but lets see what they have planned - after all it needs to change as it failed as a business before.... |

Both the King and the Punch serve decent food at lunchtimes, and the grouse which is making itself a bit more pubby seems to serve food all day and into the night what more do you want? Al a carte dining Bonapartes tried and quite famously failed!
If you want fine dining go to a restaurant, if you want a pie and a pint go to a pub. There is nothing worse than going into a pub to be faced with the smell of chips frying.
And if your peckish we have a myriad of ethnic dining establishments in Silsden (just in case you have'nt visited the town centre lately)javascript:smileyInsert(topicform.message, ' '); |

there are cctv cameras on main street so maybe something was caught on those? I wouldn't hold your breath though, not a very nice welcome to a new area, hope the scumbags are ashamed of themselves. |

As Ginjo has already said, this is a horrible way to start your new venture. I hope that this set back won't effect you too much, sadly there are burglar's in every town and village. I do wish you good luck and look forward to having a beer or three when you open for business |

Unfortunately, there has been a series of break ins, robberies and thefts recently. Even the church hall was broken into.
I sincerely hope it doesn't affect the new venture too much. |
