Topic : A Zebra Crossing on Skipton Road - What a Good Idea !!!! |

Am I the only parent in Silsden who thinks it would be a good idea to have a zebra crossing on Skipton Road, so that children making their way to Aire View and Hothfield Street schools can have a safe place to cross ? At present parents and children have to step out onto the road between parked cars and speeding cars. I'm sure parents would be happier to allow older junior chilldren to walk to school by themselves if there was a safe place to cross, allowing the kids more independence and keeping the family car off the roads! |

The subject of a pedestrian controlled crossing in Skipton road has been an issue for a number of years. I remember going to school in the 70's and many of my friends had close encounters with speeding cars. Sadly it will probably take a serious accident or a childs death before those in authority act. |

Sadly a serious injury or death IS the only way that Bradford would consider a crossing. The town council has campaigned for crossings in various places in Silsden in recent years and continually come up against brick walls. Though Bradford is quite content to spend £110k on sculptures in other parts of the district! How many crossings would that pay for? |
