Use left side looking towards Silsden.
For traffic from Skipton direction look well up the road. There is always a gap coming. Just be prepared.
From roundabout. Again gaps always appearing. Best when a couple of vehicles are crossing towards Silsden.
Keep fit and practise standard starts for sprinting. |

The Keighley/Ilkley buses run every half hour Monday to Saturday up to 6PM then hourly as they do on Sundays, there is also the Jackson's bus service 906, i don't know just when it runs. |

the trains travel in both directions don't they? so what you are saying is that their buses arrive in time to drop off passengers getting on the train that is going the opposite way to which you want to travel and the opposite happens when the buses pick up. I guess they can't please everyone! |

If only that was the case , by carefully arranging their times they seem to manage to miss trains in both directions . EG 7.35 am bus waiting at station , 7.37am bus departs station , 7.40 train arrives at station . passengers get off train and start walking to Silsden & Steeton . Now thats what I call in un-intigrated transport system |

Cobydaler is right, I used the train for 4 years to Bradford and back, and the train/bus are not coordinated at all, whichever way you travel. I used to arrive in Steeton from Bradford, and sometimes see the Silsden bus just departing! Shambles is the word....I wrote to Metro and never got a reply. Bit of joined up thinking would solve it, for everyone's benefit. |

fatty...you're right to be confused. Nobody cares that it is dangerous, and nothing will ever be done...get used to it! |

The crossing is a joke. Why isn't there an under pass? There is an Under Pass in Cross Hills and in Keighley under the 40MPH road just before the B&Q roundabout!
I think the problem with the buses is the timetables. They are not logical and generally have buses living when trains are arriving or just departing. If I use the train I organise a lift or book a taxi, safer and no waiting around/ waving arms as the 903 leaves. |

Yesterday I had an appointment at Airedale, not wishing to be late, I set off in good time. As it was for an eye test I couldn't drive there on their say so. Caught the 1.50pm bus to Steeton Top, Skipton bus just pulling away, not another for 30 minutes. As it was nice a walk seemed to be the answer, no bus passed me en route. Coming home from the hospital, had just missed one, so carried on walking. Luck was on my side in the shape of Jacksons, bless 'em. Trouble being, it only stopped at the Bridge St.shelter, so another walk upto Woodside ensued, by which time the Ilkley bus passed by, so I hadn't come too unstuck. A 3 hour trek for a 20 minute appt. Shall'nt be doing that again in a hurry!!! Sorry Peter slightly off thread here. |

Peterjs I don’t think you have thought your suggestion of an underpass through, look how many times the valley bottom is underwater, what is needed is an over bridge with long ramps for wheelchairs etc: There used to be one over the A650 at Nabwood, it was taken down when the Bingley relief rd was built, with a little bit of modification it would have been ideal for our problem, but instead Bradford Highways scrapped it, so why don’t we campaign for a new one now? |

that sounds a good idea there is strength in numbers, catch all the people getting off train in Steeton over 7 day period, then campaigne in Silsden and we might get something done. |

Even Usain Bolt would struggle to cross the road , getting from Silsden to Steeton station across that roundabout! Maybe a simple Pelican crossing would solve it? Pedestrians before speeding motorists? |

Neither is a Wake. It is a pagan tradition tagged on to a Christian funeral. |

I agree we need a bridge that is built over the road. My mum hates crossing that road and had a close encounter with a car once. So i now make sure i give her a lift when i can.
We need a petition |

a bridge is the obvious solution but can you imagine how big it would have to be? plus theres hardly any pavement to be able to build one off. would another solution be traffic lights on the roundabout combined with a pedestrian crossing? |

A cheaper solution would be if the bus timetable coincided with the trains and the buses waited for the train passengers.
The buses timing their departure by observing the trains pulling into the station has been happening for years (at Silsden/Steeton station and at Ilkley). |

can you imagine the tailback of traffic in the rush hour from kildwick and keighly if a pelican crossing were to be installed to let one 'manbag' wearing 'spikey haired' office worker walk home to silsden? |

bobber....have you never been involved in the holdups caused by some stupid driver who has caused an accident on the same road, and it has taken 2 hours to get home to Silsden? Think of other people's safety for a change, eh? |
