IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Following on from Town Council surveys it should be up to us to help put together a so called masterplan. After all we will have to live with it. So ideas please and no housing is not an answer so be realistic. |

Housing is the only reason. There are not enough to go around. I suggest massive expansion to create Silsden City. Embrace Steeton, Crosshills, Kildwick and over the hill Addingham as well. |

quoteHousing is the only reason. There are not enough to go around. I suggest massive expansion to create Silsden City. Embrace Steeton, Crosshills, Kildwick and over the hill Addingham as well. Don't be silly. Infrastructure, jobs, and then there is a need for houses. How can you afford a house if you don't have a job? How can you afford a house if all your time and money is used to travel miles to work? Why would you want to live here if there is NO SCHOOL PLACES for your children? Or perhaps your idea is for someone else to pay for a house with a subsidy, or for it all to be social housing and the state pays? There is a plan already being drawn up: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Silsden-Steeton-and-Eastburn-neighbourhood-plan/674391609332483 |

Silly? Anyone got a better plan for the national housing shortage? Actually new towns are not labour plans, although all the NIMBY tories would have you think they are. The biggest gainers from new towns are the tory supporting construction firms. Tory MPs have a real problem, NIMBY voters making it difficult for their back handers and directorships from the building firms. |
