this post has been edited 1 time(s) In a series of job searches I have conducted today, I am more than surprised at the number of jobs posted for local government. With the levels of redundancies planned for most government departments, I wouldn't have thought that recruitment would be high on the agenda for most departments. I observed that the majority of the jobs in local government tend to be cleaning, catering and teaching. These are the numbers of vacancies for most local government offices: BMDC 12 CRAVEN DC 0 NYCC 161 RICHMONDSHIRE DC 2 LANCASHIRE CC 92 CALDERDALE 43 ENVIRONMENT AGENCY 26 (nationally) FORESTRY COMMISSION 9 (nationally) WEST YORKSHIRE AMBULANCE 7 WEST YORKSHIRE FIRE SERVICE 0 WEST YORKSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY 0 HIGHWAYS AGENCY 0 NHS 8105 (nationally) I appreciate that ground level staffing cannot go below a certain level, but some of the vacancies posted are unbelievable. You have to go into the person specification to find out what the job entails. One of the most astounding jobs I found was on Jobstoday, a Change manager, for the NHS, based at Hull, for £300 to £325 per day? |
