Any one got any history on t'old man's seat? I am trying to find out when it was first put there.Looking at some old pic's it seems to have been there pre 40's. Having read "Discovering Silsden" by Cathy Liddle, it seems in the 70's the national press ran a story on it when Bradford "powers that be " tried to remove it. Anyone remember which paper that was? as we might have to get them back in order to have the seat " also refered to as "Silsden's parliament seat" replaced. |

The seat will have the same fate as the toilets that were on the canal bridge oposite the old co-op building. Never to be there again. |

No one claims to know who removed it.Tiz my belief it was removed in the hope no one would be bothered to complain, and then "the powers that be have gotten rid of the obstacle they tried to remove in the 70's. |
