Topic : REPOST - Weekend/After-school jobs? |
|
| xXizaakiXx |
this post has been edited 1 time(s) (Sorry you have to read this again) I've been looking for an after-school/weekend job for about 6 months now. I've been all around Silsden and fair enough, there is nothing. But some places have been rude, which has discouraged me from asking people because I don't want that kind of response. So there are no shops that need anybody, I'm just hoping that anybody on here may know someone or somewhere. I'll do anything you/they need! I am 15, and need to start earning money to fund my first guitar/school revision guides/just for myself! Thank you very much, sorry you've had to put up with me posting again and again. - Izaak Spencer My email: [email protected] |

So sorry that you have had such a negative response Isakk. It is good to see a youngster showing some initiative, well done you. Pity that people cannot see that also. Hope you get something soon, good luck. |

Go to Ilkley there are a lot of shopd there with adverts in there windows asking for staff. |

have you tried the boat yard..?. They are often looking for weekend cleaners . X |

cafe's in Skipton are always on the look out too. |

He's already tried the boat yard, nothing, and a paper round. The problem with Ilkley is he's relying on buses as I work full time myself (I'm his mum) By the time he's paid bus fares it's probably not worth while. And he's restricted to after school and weekends. I understand there's not much out there but there really isn't any need to be rude! A polite "Sorry we don't need anyone" would do. |

what about the grouse? someone said they had part time positions.Quite often the nursing homes need people as well maybe to help in the kitchen |
|

I've checked around and still nothing, I can't really leave town on a regular basis. I know you shouldnt give up on these things, but I have been everywhere. Anywhere that I e-mailed never replied, I'm not strong speaking on the phone... |

Aye you are not having much luck son, but keep trying and hopefully your perseverance will pay off eventually. Good luck |

Thank you for the positive message, I'll find one eventually! Just stick at it! |

Hi Would you like some one-off work in my garden - digging up weeds! I would not blame you if you don't want to - it is not a pleasant job. ring me on 652531 |
|
| xXizaakiXx |
I'll happily do that! Sorry I haven't called, Im not very confident speaking on the phone... |
|
| ealteacher |
Hi Izaak So sorry - I had to get the garden sorted and so I have got a gardener coming tonight to look at it. Enjoy your search - it's all a learning experience! all best |
|
| ginjo |
the early bird catches the worm, maybe you should try and get used to speaking on the phone, I would have thought it was easier than face to face? the more you do it the easier it gets |
|
| xXizaakiXx |
Ahhh its okayy, I knew I should have called earlier! The search goes on! |
|

I need to be more confident. Many places have phone numbers, but on the phone I just freeze up and don't say anything. I'm really shy when it comes to things like this, which doesn't help. Neither does my friend, who just got given a job, that he doesn't want or like. He likes to rub it in... |

hi Izaak I am reminded of the Morrisey song which has the lines: 'Shyness is nice But shyness can stop you From doing all the things in life You'd like to.' actually it might have been the Smiths - |

Hiya Izaak, lot's of people suffer from shyness and it can take a lot of determination and support from others to overcome it, but's certainly not the worst quality to have as a teenager. The footballer Leighton Baines was so shy as a youngster that he couldn't turn out for his schoolboy team, and look at how successful he is now. You can do it son, little steps, one at a time |

My son used to clean cars for people were we lived, he got himself a good car round try that |

Thank you for the encouraging posts, I'll get there someday! I'm just thinking about going all out and phoning every place that may seem they have a job (Steeton Hall, etc). I need something with a constant income, which would be much more useful when you know when money is coming in. Once again, thank you! Ill keep you updated! |

| grandad |
I know those that know me will not believe this; but I used to be shy! I found that there are lots of friendly people out there only to willing to give you a chance, join some local organisation/group anything you think you might be interested in, don't sit there waiting for them to come to you (they wont) get out there and J.F.D.I. Best of luck! |
