This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I've just been quoted a ludicrous amount of money for an engineer to come and look at my AEG integrated dishwasher.
Basically it sounds like it is constantly trying to pump water out.
Does anyone know anyone local who might be able to help?!

Surely anyone with an AEG dishwasher can afford AEG prices!

The reason the German economy is fine, high prices by making everyone think their expensive stuff is better and more reliable. Bosch seems to be OK, but AEG ?? (from experience on an AEG appliance)

Hang on.
I'm wanting to use a local, self-employed person and support them, rather than use a business who charge over the odds because they are a global brand.
Its nothing to do with affordability, and everything to do with value for money. If I have the choice between paying an AEG engineer and the same amount to a Silsdener, I'll choose the Silsdener every time.

It's not as easy as that...we have German appliances which were guaranteed for 5 years, and if anything went wrong they came and fixed it within a few days, call out charge only.Brilliant.
Now the guarantee is up, we are now on our 5th visit in a month by a local repairer( not the Silsden one I hasten to add) supplied by an insurer, and he still cannot repair a fault in a washer/dryer!
We are getting so pi**ed off, we wish we were back with the German manufacturer, who was brilliant every time. They came from Leeds, and always solved any problem very quickly.

OK BobT...keep your hair on..are you the censor on this site?
I thought free speech was all right....we know the lady had good advice from Peter and others, but sometimes a bit extra info doesn't harm anyone..must be hot outside!

many thanks greengrass, will ring you after I get this problem sorted first, they are off getting another part(fan motor/condenser) so I don't want to upset the applecart. I will probably need some local expert help for the future, may be better cancelling the insurance I took out on all our appliances.
