Rising prices, unemployment and alterations to our social safety net are having a terrible impact nationwide for some of the more vulnerable people in our society.
Churches Together in Silsden are supporting local Food Banks.
Donations of tinned and non-perishable foodstuffs will be gratefully received at all three churches (St James’, Silsden Methodists and Our Lady of Mount Carmel) on any Sunday morning, OR at Silsden Methodist’s refreshment area, Tuesday – Friday 9.30am – 11.30am.
Please help us to share a little of what we take for granted, to an increasing number of our neighbours in need. Many thanks from the Churches Together in Silsden Committee. |

It would be helpful if Churches together specified a list of the most needed food to donate. Apparently the Trussel Fund have further identified the need for Kettke boxes a d cold boxes. Kettle boxes are food that need reconstituting with hot water because families cannot afford to put ovens on, cold boxes are for families that have no electricity. Please give a guidance to the community of what the most needed items of food are needed at the Keighley Foid Bank. Thank you. |

The List below is what is recommended for food banks.Pot noddles and hot shots etc are acceptable as they give a quick fill the rest is as follows Milk (UHT or powdered) Sugar (500g) Fruit juice (carton) Soup Pasta sauces Sponge pudding (tinned) Tomatoes (tinned) Cereals Rice pudding (tinned) Tea Bags/instant coffee Instant mashed potato Rice/pasta Tinned meat/fish Tinned fruit Jam Biscuits or snack bar The idea is each bag gives enough foor for a family for 3 days in crisis.
I am sure that Money will be recieved and forwarded to the Salvation Army. On behalf od Churches Together in Silsden. (My wife isthe methodist minister) Thanks for your support and interest. |

Not one political statement on this situation that is only happening because of our current government making it a priority to bash the poor and weak so the rich can get richer.
Well I have made it now and if anyone objects - tough. This is the result of our government by the nasty party. |
