IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Is there a problem with cyclists using this footpath? |
|
| firtoffee |
I have not seen any cyclists using this footpath. Will parents who have children in pushchairs be able to get through the barrier. |

I have seen a few use it, mainly at weekends when four or five use it. It looks to me as it could be to stop motor cycles using it as a shortcut. |

cyclists will just lift their handlebars above the narrow bit, that's what I would do anyway. |

Cyclists should not be riding on any footpath, if this makes them get off and push their bikes? that is a big plus for all other users. |

Could someone who needs to use a mobility scooter please use this path, then let us know if it's a problem. |

I don't think parents walking to the new school would fit through with a double buggy . |

Midway, pardon my ignorance, please could you say where this obstruction is? So I can go there and measure it. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) The footpath is now reduced to 23 inches or 585 mm wide and the barrier is 34 inches or 865mm from the ground. Does anyone know how wide and high a double buggy or a mobility scooter is. |

My Wife's mobility scooter is 26" wide at 33" height. Where is this path? |

It runs from the new extension to daisy hill through to banklands lane |

A Double buggy can be about 70 to 75 cm’s wide . 75cm is 29 inched |

Chill out Hector, no-one said they were going to ride down it, just how I would overcome this obstacle if I wanted to get past with a bike. I suppose the more adventurous could pop a wheelie and raise their handlebars that way :-P |
