I believe there are 'issues' from comments people have been making to me face to face, from e-mails I've received, and my own experience.

BUT I do not want to lead anyone on here, that's why I've been vague also given an e-mail address Peter. happy :)

It depends who is delivering! if its the regular man then it varies, I get mine usually between 1pm (on a good day) and 3pm.If its his day off, I get it about 11am, presume because the stand in might do the round in a different order.I have complained to post office some time ago and was told that because silsden is a rural yes rural round, there service standards are anytime up to 3pm! we are a small town for goodness sake.

I've found the postal deliveries to be excellent.happy :)

A very friendly and likeable postman who gives me the impression that if he noticed anything out of the ordinary (like a possible burglary in progress) that he would helpfully inform the police.

I'm not worried about what time he delivers - the days of reading one's post before going off to work are long gone!

I don't live on Waterside but our postal delivery is a bit worrying. We often, every other week, get mail that's not for us. It's either for our neighbours or for the same house number on a street with a similar name, where they have a dog!

It makes me wonder if our posty is hoping we'll deliver to the doggy address for him.

We don't. I'm not getting bitten on his behalf. I put em back in the post-box and write "delivered to the wrong address please try again" on em.

I did complain to the sorting office and they apologised and things improved for a while but soon slid back to the same old same old.

It just makes me wonder if we are getting all of our letters, or if someone else is reading them over their marmalade on toast (joking, we don't get deliveries til after lunch).

Yes I do Alan, and I have had nothing but good experiences of our postman and have had several pleasant conversations with him.

He's just a pleasant guy trying to do his job and earn his living. When you see the size of the sacks he has to carry around you realise it's not as easy as it could be.

(and before you ask, No - I'm not a postman mysel nor am I related to him. One of my grandfathers was a postman after WW1 though)

I don't live on Waterside and my post has just arrived. Last week it came about 4.15pm. The worst thing also that one day we heard the letter click, and a note shoved through stating they had tried to deliver a parcel. All we saw was the van driving off, never rang doorbell or anything. Had to ring Keighley to ask for it to be delivered again. Woman in complaints said a mistake must have been made!

Must be a record! Post delivered at 5.59pm!! I know it is Christmas, but surely the Post Office can sort the rounds out more effectively! (I live on Howden Road)

I was talking to my postman some weeks ago and he was telling me that, if there were six (walks)rounds and six postmen now there are five postmen doing the same job. When a postman finishes his round he then goes and dose part of the spare or sixth round this is why some post is being delivered later.

has anyone been listening to radio 4, described as follows:-
'A letter from your postman written by Roy Mayall and delivered by Philip Jackson; a heartfelt musing on the past, present and future role of one of the oldest British institutions, the Postie.

Why postmen used to have the best job in the world, and why it's heading towards becoming the worst.

A Pacificus production for BBC Radio 4.'

it is very interesting and obviously available on iplayer. it explains all about the life of a postman who is more than just the 'delivery guy'. he is the one who sorts out the mail for your area long before most are up and ready for work etc etc.

well worth a listen and is quite an eye opener. it's called 'dear granny smith' and is on for 15 minutes at 9.45 repeated late in the evening on another day.

the postie who does woodside road is very friendly and we have no complaints so far.

I were expecting a few deliveries yesterday and they didn't turn up.
I didn't see a postman at all and neither did the dog!
So far no sign of a postman today either, is this just me or have others not had any mail and/or seen a postie on waterside?

He's ok, but I've seen him deliver to our road and then come back to finish off over an hour later!

Why does he do that, he sometimes puts one letter through the door, then half an hour later he is back with another.
That cannot be very efficient use of his time.

Hi

He seems to deliver small parcels, packets etc first and then goes back with rest of mail. Eugene always tries to find someone to take in packets, parcels etc which his colleagues don't always bother to do & then you end up having to go to Keighley sorting office to collect it.

this post has been edited 1 time(s)

yeah, I'd rather have my mail slightly later and get packets the same day rather than earlier mail and keep having to goto the sorting office.

My package came today, I think it took a day longer due to their system as another seems to have not arrived today when it was sent yesterday!

Last year royal mail boosted their staff for christmas and parcels were arriving hours after being dispatched!

Sometimes I wonder if we get missed the odd day because I'll be expecting a package and nothing, won't even see the postman on the estate which I generally do when walking the dog. Then the next day will receive it and a load of other mail.
Might just be the flow of mail and a different postman.
Anyone else had this?

Well a couple of weeks ago my post arrived at 17.50- an all time record, even for me. I don't think that is acceptable, but got nowhere last time I complained. (I live on Howden Road) I would certainly never rely on the post like I used to do in the other places I have lived around North Yorkshire.
