Is it just me or do other people get caught in the traffic hold up at this Keighley bus stop?. It would seem that there are drivers who do not know what a bus stop is even when people are stood waiting for a bus and they go and park in that spot. Result of there parking is that when the bus turns up it has to park in the middle of the road for passengers to board or exit the bus. Due to the timetable of the Keighley-Ilkley bus it is often entering Elliott St at this time and is unable to proceed because the Keighley bus is in the middle of the road and we have Grid Lock!!. I was told the other day by a passenger who was boarding the bus that a car driver who was parked there asked the bus driver if he would move as he was in a hurry to get away.. |

Unfortunately there are as yet, no road markings denoting the space as a bus stop. Common sense doesn't come into the equation when car parking . |

Why should the bus service have priority over other road users? How many people were consulted over the route changes? The bus services are operated and run by private companies. How many private companies can turn round and demand multi million pound bus lanes be installed...? |

this post has been edited 2 time(s) Elliott Street cannot afford to lose any more parking spaces. There are many stops on this route that do not have a designated bus stop parking allocation. What doesn't help is when mechanic garage owners choose to park their vehicles on Elliott Street for months on end (Dec - Mar) rather than at their premises. They recently moved a vehicle, after it was reported, but its now been replaced by Blue Skoda Octavia (been there for a week already!) |

Thank you so much DogCatcher for the info, I will check this out - didn't know that the details can be checked by Joe Public. The previous car that was left on Elliott Street was there for months was actually MOT without being moved. The police confirmed that the vehicle was MOT in January but it had been parked without be moved since December!! Disappointing that the mechanic feels its acceptable to leave his cars in this manner. Perhaps residents of the whole of Elliott Street & King Street should apply for residence parking permits which would be a shame for other businesses / shoppers that do not abuse the parking situation. |

So the mechanic has moved the Skoda, great, but, has now replaced it with another of his vehicles that only got moved at the beginning of the week, and its back already - a Greeny Blue Rover 200!!! |

Ummm... he is still parking about 2 - 3 cars at a time on Elliott Street. That with the builders vehicles (upto 7 a day!) who are working on Harwal Development, there is no space for residents of Elliott Street & King Street to park anywhere close to their home. Where else is he parking? Can't there be anything done about it? |

He's parking the one that was pictured on Silsden Buzz up on Oak tree Court. Damn things an eyesore and it's not moved in 2 weeks. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) The thing is: a) no-one has a God-given (or even Council-given...same thing!) right to park outside their own property unless there is a designated parking place marked as such; b) as long as a vehicle is taxed and has a current MOT certificate it can be parked legally on any public road, subject to road marking as per the Highway Code; and c) anyone can check if a vehicle is taxed and has a valid MOT certificate by typing in the reg'n number and make of vehicle into www.gov.uk/check-mot-status - if both are valid, the owner can probably legally park it outside your house until either the tax or MOT certificate runs out. |
