This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I have seen a man around on Keighley Road, possibly a rough sleeper. I first spotted him near the shell garage at 3.30 leaning on a wall. He then was stood right outside a house on Keighley Road at about 5pm, Pumba went and asked him if he was etc. He said he wasn't very well, and that he would move on, Pumba told him about the doctors surgery on Elliot Street.

I called the police to ask them to get a member of the neighbourhood policing team to come and do a "welfare check" and make sure he was ok, had somewhere to sleep and see if he needed any medical attention. They just said I should call an ambulance, but I would like to know how I was suuposed to call an ambulance when I had no idea what was wrong with him and any details about him apart from what he looked like and that he seemed unwell.I did say I was a little uncomfortable about him loitering.

They asked if he was still outside the house, which by this time he had moved on, but then they said as he was no longer loitering there was nothing they could do. The telephone operator then said "oh well is was going to log a call but I won't if he has gone" Call if he comes back to the house.

They seemingly don't give stuff if this guy is OK or not. I guess as he is a rough sleeper they don't give a hoot. The last I saw of this guy he was sat outisde the Bridge Pub, which means that he had walked from the shell garage to the bridge in 2 hours. I am concerned he is not well, but the police don't. Nice... It is nice to know they care (or don't in this case).

That Guy you saw did hang about outside the pub for a few hours. He looked a lot better after he had a pint!!. He has got a problem, but as I said looked better after a drink. He lives local and had a mate that has the odd bottle of Cider with him. The mate looks like him and may be related. I don't know if the call you made was passed on but I did see the Police Van drive passed a few times. They would have known him but as he was sitting drinking and not causing any bother there would not have been much they could have done. This guy can only help himself. .However it is good to know you took the time to care .
