Is anyone aware that at least 24 houses are going to be built on the woodturners yard down sykes lane? more housing destroying our great town |
|

there was a presentation by the developers in the methodist church a couple of months ago.Don't know whether a planning application has been submitted yet though. I think the biggest problem will be traffic entering and exiting the site.I an application has gone in, make sure you put your commments in.By the way does anyone know what is going on by the river? presume something to do with yorkshire water? |
|
| shauny |
they are building a road to the golf club |
|
| ginjo |
why? and who is paying for that? there is a road to golf club from Utley, what a waste of money. It looks as though planning application has gone in for Sykes Lane, over 100 house not 24! |

Does anyone know the planning application numberfor the Sykes Lane development? |
|
| ginjo |
planning application number is 06/05923/ful It is for 124 houses and you can print comment form from www.bradford.gov.uk. Apparantly the application has been in a while but the planning department have not got round to putting out notices yet! A copy of the plans has now been put in their one stop shop (whatever that is ) |

This is the site you need to keep an eye on for the Sykes Lane planning www.planning4bradford.com/tdc/DcApplication/application_detailview.aspx?caseno=J4EA4YDHJ2000 |

This is the form you can use to put your thoughts to the planning authority (don't forget the planning application number - 06/05923/ful - thanks ginjo). www.bradford.gov.uk/contact_us/online_forms/application_comment_form_keighley.htm |

apparantly there are two applications, the second number is 06/05933/CAC not quite sure what this is for, I am trying to find out |
|
| Fred |
I think it's for the access road construction (Keighley Road to proposed houses). |
|
| ginjo |
According to planning department it is for consent to demolish two buildings ia a conservation area to the north end of the site |

On the 1938 Ordinance Survey map (a copy which you can see here: www.silsden.net/useful/silsdenmap_1938.htm - click on the map to enlarge), the area around Sykes Lane is shown as a playing field. What happened to the playing field? Is this the greenfield land they want to build on? Was this public area swapped for another piece of land at some time in the past? An interesting read can be found on the UDP document www.bradford.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/153FC8D7-1B39-4EFC-897F-2EC9B91EE577/0/KeighleyMaster1.pdf This was the conclusing reach by the inspector for the report published in 2004 (you should make a search within the document, using the pdf search, for K/E1.9) Of course Bradmet objected to some of the inspectors recommendations as you can read here www.silsden.net/udp/silsden_rUDP_bradmet.htm |

When we moved to Silsden about 12 years ago it was to get out of the City (Leeds) but still have good transport links, the station. The mark 1 plan was doing the rounds and a neighbour gaves me a copy and the address for commnets. Interestingly mine on access to the railway were much the same as the Inspectors. However, as far as housebuilding was concerned complaining for the sake of it was obviously a no brainer. It was highly unlikely that housing would be built on the flood plain or up on the high moors. A few of the fields around the edge had potential, as do the brown field sites and maybe bits of trapped land. So far they have been the areas built on, or proposed for building on. Benefits of an increasing population, in the time since moving here are: - a decent supermarket we can walk to - decent places to eat out - good local shops, I use local butchers, bakers and newsagents, plus Pauls for DIY and not forgetting the new health food shop. If you want to live in the country then move out to the wilds - and the lack of services. As far as I am concerned the balance in Sislden is fine and a bit more development will not do any harm. |

PS I commented to the developer at the display in the Methodist Church that the new proposed development looked fine to me, but I expect I was minority. His reply was that quite a few held these views. Silent majority? |
