Yesterday, just after 4 pm I walked through the park. There were 2 young women (not teenagers) sat on the banking just above the football pitch on the side where the bungalows back onto the park. They were drinking carling larger, lambrini and wickked. When I walked back through after tea tonight I saw that they had left their empty cans and bottles plus cig packets and various other bits of rubbish.
I picked up the bottles and cans, as this was all I could carry and I binned them. These women were not kids but obviously don't care about the mess they leave, this type of behaviour will extend to other parts of their lives I am sure, they not an asset to Silsden. I did not recognise them. One was a big women with dark shortish hair, lots of makeup the other was fsir and not quite as large. I hope they read this and feel ashamed. My message to them is "be responsible, act like the adults you are"
What I would like to do is have a bye law that prevents drinking in public places in Silsden. Lots of other places have it. It might prevent all the left over cans and broken glass in the park and the police would be able to prosecute.
Is it possible? |

If you mean like the drinking order they have in Ilkley? Yes it is effective but it only stop anti social drinking, drinkers can have the booze taken off them if the police believe they will act anti socially later on, but it doesn’t stop the responsible people enjoying a drink in public. I tried to get one of these for Silsden years ago, when I was a parish councillor and Bradford blocked it at every move, maybe this is something; those standing for our ward election should be asked about? |
