Seeing as were not allowed to mention the 'm' word on the other thread, I'll start a new one. It is illegal for any vehicle to pass another stationary one on any section of road with the zig zag markings of a zebra crossing. I am not a bike hater, I'm a person who likes to cross roads without the fear of being knocked over. The fact that it is a motorbike is irrelevant, I would be just as annoyed if it were a car or a white van, or an elephant for that matter. I'm not annoyed that a motorbike broke the law, I'm annoyed that a VEHICLE broke the law. if other users of the forum want to rant about motorbikes then thats up to them, I am not doing so, I'm a fan of them. |

They seem to have rules for them and rules for cars and he proves it well done to the man who took the picture |

You are completely missing the point.
He was not breaking the law in the photograph.
The only time he would have broken the law is on aproach to a crossing if he passes the last car before the crossing, you have assumed he has just done that, but we will never know. Where he is on that photo, "at that moment in time" he is perfectly legal.
You are obviously mis-interpreting the highway way code on this point, but you are entitled to your opinion. So I will do it my way, and you continue to do it yours if you like. |

And you are trying to tell us that he has just appeared out of the non-existant gap between the two stationary cars at the end of the zig-zags and will slot into the next non-existant gap at the start of the next zig-zags just in front of him.....Who said pigs can't fly? |

Claymoreking is quite right and I must admit to not knowing this until I read about someone being booked. Consequently when filtering past traffic on my bike try to avoid filtering past a pedestrian crossing. Especially if the traffic is moving, albeit slowly.
The exception is if the traffic is at a complete halt, but I always look very carefully for pedestrians or plods.
If the traffic is completely stalled, and obviously so into the distance then my defence would be, if challenged, that I am negotiating an obstruction rather then overtaking traffic.
So far I have not had to so am not sure if it would work. My expereince is that most plods are realists and know the difference, but of course there is always the day one encounters a jobsworth.
Nothing beats keeping ones eyes open. One reason I hate open face helmets. They so reduce vision so it is easier to make a mistake. I prefer the open face with a visor and superb all round vision to ensure one does not miss a problem, pedestrian or plod. |

I think all Bikers should wait their turn in the queue of stationary traffic.
Oh ! I think I said this before, sorry.
