i know doubt this will poss cause a bit of an uproar, but as I and 2 local shop keepers ive talked to, have seen only 1 disabled car parked in the 2 spots outside the front of the con club/insurance/finance and estate agents ,at the top of town in 2 years, could it be possible to allocate just one of the 2 spots for general parking for a limit of 10 mins or so so local trade can benefit from this as quite a lot of non disabled users use these spots to nip into papershop or knowles or insurance shop etc and it would be nice for them to not worry about getting a ticket. |

I am not sure if it works the same on the road side, but I do know that for our carpark here at work legally a certain percentage of the available parking has to be allocated to disable parking bays.
If if it a percentage of ocverall paring in the centre of Silsden then perhaps a solution could be to remove this bay and reallocate it on kirkgate perhaps. |

disable parking bays are a joke they are always empty spaces? when the the rest of the supermarket carparks are full, but they have to stick to the EU percentage again red tape so you are right in what you say in fact if I can not park then I just go so the shops loose my trade. |

Make the end of the parking bays opposite Dogsbody a disabled parking bay. The road gets narrow there and the traffic backs up, perhaps a disabled slot there would mean the road could be put to better use for most of the time.
In that position, being on the end of the line it would be easier for disabled to park.
It will never happen, it's too logical, and no doubt there is a regulation that states disabled parking has to have mega space either side to open doors etc. Never mind the disabled will continue to park anywhere and just abandon their vehicle with a blue badge in the window. |

great solution peter make one space at the top ordinary 10 min parking and move one disabled bay to last one down from the post office. also my friend is disabled and he says they are only supposed to park on a solid single yellow line with their badges, but ive seen a few parking on double yellow lines which is a danger to all. |

So you want to park your commie tank outside the con club its only 2 mins walk from your house walk it
on a more serious note yes alot of disabled spots around yorkshire are rarely used though the ones in skipton (town hall/canal basin car park) and the ones at morrisons guiesly are full the majority of the time (i am of course going back a couple of years when used to take my nan out who was a badge holder) |

They do need quite a big space as a lot do and some have to open the door as wide as it will go. I know my gran just swings the door on my car wide open, generally without looking and no hearing aid so shouting "WAIT" has no effect!
However there will be a lot of spare doors laying around in Silsden if they did move a space to the main street. |

yep see your point ,but as i said earlier my friend is disabled and if im driving i pull up so the side they are sitting is against the curb and vice versa if they are driving.those with wheelchair in the back should be ok if the parking spot is long enough to open back and wheel it out. |

Before anybody complains about anything to do with the disabled, they should try living for a day using a wheelchair! I am not disabled but a while ago I broke my leg and I was taken to a computer exibition by my brother in a wheelchair, the experience totally change my perspective on the subject. |

Ha, it's bad enough people just walking into you at those things when you are as tall or taller than them. I bet it's real fun when you're in a chair and/or not at the same height! |
