This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Does anyone else get as cheesed off as me when they see young lads (youths, teens, call them what you will) riding their bikes on the edge of the flowerbed by the bus stop in front of the library?

I note that several of the edging stones are now missing, presumably as a result of breakage or being loosened because of this activity.

I've mentioned it politely to one group who just laughed at me and were lucky not to get a thick ear for their cheek.

I also saw some PCSO's (think that's the right acroynm) talking to one group a while ago but don't know what was said.

It's bad enough when they ride on the edge but clearly some of them at least actually ride on the soil and have killed whatever was growing there.

I'm considering contacting the community policing team to ask them to patrol this area more often and put a stop to this vandalism.

What does everyone else think, particularly the younger posters here. I don't want to spoil your fun or anything but people put a lot of effort and money into getting the rocks'n'ramps facility in the park and I think that these lads on their bikes should use it rather than damaging other areas that they are not supposed to be riding on.

At the end of the day it's me and other tax paying folk (your parents?) that are footing the bill when the flowerbeds eventually get repaired.

Thoughts?

I see it every Monday and Friday night when collecting my own kids from Guides or Scouts. It does beg the question as to why the youth council bother to do all the hard work, when some of the kids just don't want to even use the facilities. Maybe the youth council should consult this particular group before bothering to put all their hard work in to any other schemes.

I find the group intimidating, so I am suprised that you spoke to them about this matter and didn't get a thick ear yourself. But there again I suppose I should not judge a book by it's cover.....

I had heard that their parents had been visited.

I wonder what they are doing about it?

"I wonder what their parents are doing about it?" - not much judging by how often I see them there.

I'm surprised none of the younger forum members have had a say yet.
