IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Very nice. Will have a read tomorrow. A bit ironic it has pictures of agriculture and farming then up pops a picture of a councillor who champions massive housing development! Good that the history group is piecing together Cobbydale's past and John's blog brings it all to life. |

It might have been even better if they had bothered to get the required planning permission for it! |

It is a nice information board. Whining about lack of planning permission for something so small and innocuous solicits only one reply. Get a life. |

The law is the law, if you accept this; it is the thin edge of the wedge, will you also be happy when all of the takeaways have large signs of multi colours outside their shops destroying our conservation area? |

i'm afraid grandad hates community projects and he hates anything that is positive for Silsden. Some folk suggest he's from outer space. |

Aren't grandads meant to be all twinkly and jolly, especially in this festive season? But even this very grumpy grandad cannot really believe that a responsible group, such as Silsden Local History Group, would simply turn up one December morning and drop a new information board into a town centre flower bed, without so much as a nod to anyone in authority. Grumpy grandad can be assured that all necessary procedures were followed with Bradford Met over several months. He is welcome to inspect the Group's correspondence with the Planning Department and the Estates Department, both of which gave their support to this new project. Even better, he should come along to one of the Group's monthly meetings (third Monday of the month, almost one hundred members now, and counting....) He will be made very welcome indeed. Perhaps he might even enjoy himself! He will certainly find another reason to count his blessings at living in such a grand place as Silsden. |

That really is my favourite reply of this year, and I don't have any connection with the Silsden History Group. |

Ted, you do not know me; or the many things I have done for Silsden over the years, so I will not reply in the same vane. As for the history group doing everything right as per Bradford Council, oh this will be the same council who are responsible for the death trap they have done at the Town Hall! enough said. |

i guess he's just bitter in his old age. hopefully he'll find the strength to raise a smile this Christmas. the new board looks good by the way. |

quote the new board looks good by the way. It does as it should at £1600. It would be good to have history boards all over the town at sites of interest but at that cost its out of the question. Perhaps an interactive map of Silsden where you could click and open a page with historical facts and pictures. |

Ted, IF you had bothered to read my posts you might have noticed I did not say that the sign was not a good thing, my point was and still is that it has not been given the required planning permission, it is in the conservation area and therefore the group should have applied for the permission, the did not. So stop making personal attacks on people you know nothing about. |
