IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

PLANS TO PUT UP TWO UMBRELLAS AT THE BRIDGE INN HAVE BEEN REJECTED ON THE GROUNDS OF VISUAL AMENITY,AND BECAUSE ITS ADJACENT TO A CONSERVATION AREA DOES THIS MEAN THAT ALL THE NEW HOUSES BEING BUILT AT THE CANAL SIDE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ERECT UMBRELLAS IN THEIR GARDENS OR IS IT JUST BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE IN A BEER GARDEN THAT THY BECOME VISUALLY OFFENSIVE
TAKE A LOOK AT THE MILL CONVERSION AT OPPOSITE SIDE OF CANAL NOW THATS WHAT I CALL VISUALLY OFFENSIVE BUT IT GOT PASSED BY PLANNING

Two points. The town council CANNOT reject only make comments, the newspaper was slightly incorrect!
THe second point is that they already have umbrellas! Just look at the size they want to put up! I doubt whether you'd want those in your garden happy :)

happy :)I will happily support those against the parasols in the Bridge's garden when they get double yellow lines down both sides of the road from the junction, over the canal bridge all the way to the river bridge.
angryOtherwise, if i have to put up with inconsiderate parking then everyone else can put up with a pair of parasols.

Double yellow lines are a waste of time.

take New Street for example. there is always a car in the evening parked there on the double yellows, from one of the take aways.

When the chip shop is open people are so lazy to walk any where they park on the double yellows.

Last week a stupid woman parked her car next to another, blocking the road while she "nipped in for her tea" but it was ok she put her hazzard warning lights on!, never mind the trafic down the high street because some one wanted to go up new street.

I would be interested what other ideas the Town Council could suggest for smokers. This law thats coming in is one of the Labour governments better ideas. But it wont be much use if the pubs lose trade and shut down. The Bridge as the only canal side pub we have is an asset for Silsden.
Anyone any serious ideas
