Topic : 1200 or 800 new houses? |
|
gazzer |
You may recall in August the press reported that the target number of new houses in Silsden was reduced from the previous figure of 1200 to 800.Mr Grogan the election candidate for Labour has in addition to the media reports sent out at least 2 election leaflets claiming he played a part in the reduction. Since the original figure came out there has been quite a lot of new houses built and planning applications passed. I was curious to find out how many required to be duducted from the 800 to establish the numbers moving forward. In reply to this question Bradford Council said none are to be duducted as 800 is a "NEW" target figure. The council confirmed, in their opinion, it will mean there will be another 800 houses on top of those already passed/built giving a total still over 1,000. It is dissapointing the election candidate is giving the impression he has helped get the number "reduced" by 400 to gain a few votes. If he really was involved in the decision to make the target 800 from now then he knows calling it a 400 reduction is a lie. |

At the same time as Silsden were told to only expect 800 houses Steeton with Eastburn were told their target figure was reduced from 700 to just 150. However on the Keighley News website today Bradford Council have given a figure of 346. https://www.keighleynews.co.uk/news/18084437.plan-11-homes-eastburn-approved-despite-objections/ |

Academic now gazzer, Grogan has gone, and we won't have a Marxist government under Corbyn, so that's good news. Let's hope Silsden continues to flourish in coming years... |

So Dexter Bradford must be doing something right if you are right and Silsden is flourishing. |

I suspect it's the efforts of Silsden people and their representatives who are pushing us forward, so well done to them. Lots of good things have happened here due to their efforts, and I hope they continue. |

Dexter I am in such a good mood today, such a weight has been taken off my shoulders. Last night when the exit polls came out and the possibility of a Corbyn prime minister had gone, I had the best nights sleep for months. P.S. I am a Labour supporter and always will be but I will never support Corbyn or Mcdonnell and there pack. Happy Christmas to all. |

MPs who lose their seats in the general election don't have long to get used to the idea of life outside Parliament. But they do at least get redundancy pay. Their security pass, which lets them in to the Houses of Parliament, will be deactivated at 11.59pm on December 19. That means they won't be able to get into Parliament any more. In this period, which lasts five working days, they are supposed to pack up any personal belongings in their Commons offices, including any office or computer equipment which is their own personal property. Any paper records stored in the office which are still there after five working days will be destroyed. Some of them will have removed their belongings as soon as the campaign began - just in case. Others will have to get back to Westminster sharpish and start packing. Former MPs will get a final payslip sent to their home address - shortly followed by a P45. And they continue to be paid up to polling day (not the day the election campaign began). They also receive a Winding-Up payment, which is based on the sum of two months’ salary after tax and National Insurance has been paid. That's around £9,105 in cash. And then they also receive a "Loss of Office" payment, equal to twice their statutory redundancy entitlement. The total sum depends on how old they are, and how long they have been an MP. But someone aged 55 who has been an MP for 18 years can expect to get around £26,000. They used to get even more than this thanks to a generous "resettlement" grant, but that has been axed. There's help with office costs too Former MPs also get a "Winding Up budget", to pay the cost of winding up their parliamentary business for up to two months after the election. However, this doesn't go into their pocket and is largely used to pay staffing costs. MPs can also claim residential accommodation rent, associated expenditure, or hotel accommodation, for up to a maximum of two months after polling day. |

Why not start a new topic if you want to talk about the election / Brexit? With the correct heading you would get a proper debate. However, this topic is really about local housing - who knows perhaps our new local MP will be able to influence the proposed over supply of new houses which, if past examples are to be the design, do not address the housing needs of the local population? |

Out new ‘local’ mp is anything but. He was parachuted in to take this seat and has no direct links, knows nothing of our local needs and likely cares just as little |

Peter I think the point gazzer was making was about John Grogan (politics) more than about housing. |
