I started a topic about what prospective councillors should consider for the people of Silsden - You've seen it, the one that has been locked due to mud slinging, liablous comments and some childish behaviour. Peter was right to lock it as it was getting rediculous but the second post was by Peter, Peter - please forgive me but you immediately appeared to 'go off topic' and your post seemed to have opened up the huge can of worms. I am not a prolific poster on Silsden.net but I do visit several times a week to see whats going on and get some local news/gossip. I am quite disappointed and even annoyed that the thread was not managed better and the whole topic been brought back on the rails - i.e.What the average Silsden resident would like to be addressed. I may add aswell that I have NOTHING to do with any council member or political party, I purely posted to see what my fellow residents thought. The whole idea of this forum and indeed all forums is to generate discussion and debate on topics and these need to be moderated and not be allowed to get into such a state and spoilt that they have to be locked, I may not have much to add to these forums but it annoys me that when I do it ends like this. |

shropshirelad, I apologise for slightly taking your topic off course but your title and the text below was about elections. The only election coming up in Silsden is for the selection of a Ward Councillor to represents us in Bradford at the local elections taking place on 3rd May. The Silsden Town Council can be elected on 10 May if anyone can be bothered to put their hand up to be a town councillor. I think you have to apply and be nominated first. So the hot topic was Mr Rowley getting asked to leave a Silsden Town Council meeting which leads on to why he was there in the first place. Mr Rowley (Conservative) seems to have some 'friends' (using or trying to), use this forum to make mischief for our Town Council and in particular Mr Naylor (ex Conservative) who is standing as an Independent. I will not have anonymous people signing up to post unsubstantiated allegations. It was unfortunate this happened on your topic. |

If you look at the original thread and my post (number 15 ) you will see that I said the same thing Peter. I then suggested something to consider in Silsden. But it came to nothing. |

I stand by my reading of the title of topic and my interpretation of the text written by shropshirelad. If you write ambiguously you will get replies you don't expect. |

Peter, the text meant nothing more than what was typed. It had no hidden meaning or agenda. It appears that if you are embroiled in the tittle tattle of local politics it did indeed have a hidden or different meaning. It was a very simple post written in a way that anyone could understand and also in a way so it would invite anyone to suggest what local issues the people of Silsden would like addressed for the good of their own town. I find it very hard to read my post as ambiguous... |
