IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Last Wednesday I was able to take some pictures of the inside (and outside) of the Methodist Church. The building will be handed over to the builders on 19 October 2009 for redevelopment. The pictures and plans can be seen here: www.silsden.net/pictures/MethodistChurch2009/methodist_church_2009.htm Thanks to the minister the Rev Jacky Hale for giving me access to the building. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Thank you Peter for taking the trouble to photograph the Methodist Church. So many of our buildings are destroyed without any record. As a child I attended the Methodist Junior Guild, held in this building when it was the Sunday school, and have many happy memories, run by Mrs Pearson and Miss Lee, we were taught games and crafts, the Rev and Mrs Ewart Wilson and various Deconesses regularly attended. The C of E at that time did nothing for the young people, both the Junior and Senior Guilds were open (as I remember to all denominations. |
