Just heard that the road will be closed until around 7pm. It must be serious for the road to be closed that long after an accident. |

I know that the police have to do their job but I really do think that they take delight in stretching the job out, I really don't think they needed 5hrs to gather the information, at one time, the wreckage would just be moved to one side and the traffic let through one side at a time. I hope everyone involved in the accident is ok, not seen anything on the news or in the paper |

seemed like the police were actually doing a sensible job for once, stopping cars on bolton road, asking where they were going & giving directions of where to divert so the main street was kept clear with most cars being sent up skipton road & over to kildwick |

So there's a poor old lady fighting for her life and others also injured. The Police need to carry out a thorough investigation to apportion blame, if there is any. and some folk are whingeing because they were mildly inconvenienced. Pretty much sums up the country right now for me. |

There needs to be an investigation so let them do their job if it involved serious injury there needs to be a proper job not a half hearted attempt if you were put out for a minute or two that's just life you know your way round the area so use your loaf if it takes that length of time then that's what it takes you say you don't see the police doing their job and when you do you complain hard luck! |

I wasn't inconvenienced, I did not need to go out on saturday, I am just saying that sometimes it is hard to see why it takes so long, there were plenty of police there covering a relatively small area so why so long? as I said before I do hope everyone is ok but what used to happen in the past when roads were not closed for such a long time? |

The problem is that, in these days of compensation culture and litigation mania, there are always people trying to make a few bob out of incidents such as this. You can bet your boots there'll be someone visiting their solicitor this morning hoping to pay for their next holiday out of a "whiplash" claim. The police will therefore have to ensure that everything is analysed thoroughly, and all i's are dotted and t's crossed. In short, don't blame the police for the delay. Blame greedy lawyers |

This is not about Saturday's crash because I do not know the details. But in general terms West Yorkshire Police do seem to take longer than other forces to clear roads. If there is a crash on the M62 in Yorkshire the road is closed all day and Radio Leeds text and Twiter can only just cope.Radio Leeds also pass on information about the Lancashire section of the M62 but you dont seem to hear about all day closures with traffic backing up into Yorkshire. I once read that such was the concern about the time taken West Yorkshire police bought an expensive piece of kit to map accidents allowing roads to be cleared quicker. |

Due to the fact that one of the injured parties was in a critical condition the police have to treat the incident as a fatal crash just in case...hence the length of time.... |

Monday 29 October 2012
Police are calling for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision which occurred on Keighley Road in Silsden over the weekend.
At 1:39pm on Saturday 27 October a blue Toyota Yaris travelling away from Silsden was in collision with a silver VW Golf being driven on the opposite side of the road.
The VW subsequently collided with two stationary Renault vans and further collided with a blue Peugeot coming from the direction of Silsden.
A 79 year old female passenger in the VW Golf received serious injury and was transported by Air Ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on the non emergency number 101. |
