It's no rumour. The plan was to sell the Wesley Place building and the library, to finance the town hall debacle. The sale, as a community assert, can only be made on the open market.

Not sure what "the town hall debacle" is, they seem to have made an excellent job of upgrading it, and people who use it seem to be very happy? Have I missed something? happy :)

Like the land at the top of Daisy Hill and the old caravan yard on Keighley Rd. Bradford Council do what they want....open market is now unusual for them

The Council usually sells property through auction, informal tender/sealed offer or via private treaty/negotiation.
Auction

they currently use Pugh & Co to sell land and property at auctions which are scheduled throughout the year.

Details of forthcoming auction dates and also properties offered for sale at auction together with a guide to buying property at auction can be found on the www.bradford.gov.uk/properties and on Pugh’s website www.pugh-auctions.com

Mmm. The paint preparation, the police funding (that BMDC are still trying to get their hands on), the lift saga, the quality of workmanship within the building, the toilets, the ramp, the crossing, the disinformation on evacuation plans and management. The list is endless! It would be interesting to know exactly what BMDC have actually spent on this building. The original estimate was £300,000. A further £100,000 was then made available. What has been spent? Why are BMDC still trying to get the police fund? When are they going to finish the job properly? Are they going to keep up to maintenance works?
