This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I did not realise that people still 'went fot a drive' thought this leisure occupation happened when very few people owned cars and the roads were quiet. I think these days you only use your car when you must] go somewhere important and vital.. Try to be 'greener' and avoid the UK roads which resemble those in third world countres

Have you tried to use public transport?
More to the point have you tried to use public transport from Steeton and Silsden rail station to get back into silsden?

I end up walking because the jacksons bus leaves either prior to my train arriving or 30 mins after and the Ilkely bus runs every 30 - 60 mins and again does not sync with the trains!

Now try getting to keighley!
It's still easier to cycle than take public transport.
Until it takes under 20 minutes to get into keighley by public transport (when I WANT TO GO) then looks ike it's the old oil chugga for me!

life would not be the same without the occasional run out in the car, maybe a picnic, some shopping, see family/friends....it's not yet time to go back to horses, let's still have a few pleasures before the oil runs out. And then the hydrogen cars will come along, and life will go on...cheer up!

Many people have told me that they find Silsden net -' your views 'displays Quote ' immature, and sarcastic comments and in some cases 'smugness',whisch resembles schoolyard chatter ' unquote they have stopped using this site adding that other village/town sites are more mature. What are opinions on their statement?
Regarding green issues May I suggest you go on the BBC Eye (listen again) and click on the Desert Island Disc programme when the round the world sailor Ellen Maccarthy was the guest.
Do listen to what she has to say . This woman is brave .aware, talented, intelligent and skillful.
If you do not agree that she speaks some sense and demonstates apathy then have a go at doing what she has accomplished. Hopefully my messge gives food for thought. She now does work for a charity.
PS I do not consider her a 'gg' or a dope.

original, who is this comment aimed at?

I try to keep a light hand when editing comments on this forum but I would welcome your ideas and thoughts to make the forum better. You are very welcome to email me if you would rather not make your views public. Peter (email address at the bottom of the page)

Re your mail.
I would suggest if the' cap fits wear it.' These contributors must know who they are.
Apart from that I think you do a wonderful job
giving up your time and energy.

<A post was deleted>

I don't mind this topic changing to a debate on forum etiquette but it must not be hijacked by the dog poo debate.

Then surely the part of the post in which 'bobber' (admits to breaking the law) discusses dog poo should also be deleted?

Of course you can but I think this thread is a dead loss when it comes to talking about escaping from Silsden on a Sunday. Better start another topic as this problem will all start again when they resurface the road tomorrow and the top road to Kildwick is closed.
