Hello, people. Im a second year BSc Geography student and for a module of mine (at the University of Leeds) we had to measure the physical properties of a river. My group and I picked your lovely area to study. We have looked at some channels leading into the reservoir and the main river out of the reservoir that passes through Silsden Town. The thing is, we noticed that the land surrounding the upper reaches of these rivers belongs to a farmer(s). We saw some sheep, so obviously the farmer practices arable farming but i was wondering if i could gain a little more knowledge about the vegetation surrounding the reservoir. Sorry farmer if you read this, i didnt mean to be rude, i just dont know your name!
The type of information that would be REALLY useful would be details such as; 1) main land use surrounding the reservoir (sheep fields, cow fields, set-a-side land, local/tourist walking paths, agricultural farming...) 2) main vegetation surrounding reservoir (oak, ash, elm, fir, grass, flowers, shrubs, herbs) 3) a shot in the dark here but, does anyone know anything about the geology/rocks/soils of the area that the rivers are situated upon? What type of soil is in your back yard? Silty, clayey, sandy...
thank you ever so much for your time in reading this. if anyone would like to contact me directly here is my e-mail address
