IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : Howden Road developments |
|
| Grianan |
this post has been edited 1 time(s) What with the Mill housing development and now the development opposite (Mouldings place)it will be impossible to get in and out of Howden Road from the main road... All the traffic from the estate, plus these two new developments, trying to turn right or do a dog-leg into Elliott Street... watching out for the pedestrians dashing across the crossing with traffic hurtling over the Clog Bridge... And this is the only real way in and out of this section of Silsden...(and it's a nightmare anyway!) Hasn't there been any traffic planning alongside these new developments? - It needs an exit from the other end, down over the canal and down to the trunk road roundabout, also in the other direction to meet up with the road to Addingham... Is this a "by-pass" I'm talking about??? |

A pypass may be what you are talking about, but the only thing that is on offer is an accees road to about another 15 hundred houses. Don't be conned into asking for a bypass, you won't get one, and whilst we are on about the Howden road junction don't ask for traffic lights on it either, because that is all that Jackson is waiting for, hie land up Woodside road is restricted developement until the junction is improved, then we will get a lot more housing to the west of Silsden. Why not buy a bike then you can ride under the canal down hainsworth road and out onto Keighley road via Belton Road? |

Thanks for your reply Grandad... - I do have a bike in fact, but that isn't going to help everybody else living over this side of Silsden - I can't see enough of them getting two-wheeled transport to alleviate the problem! No, I think a better bridge over the canal (near the swing-bridge) and widening of the road from single track is needed already! |

What about a mini roundabout at the Aireview -Keighley Road junction (a pimple in the road) and a bit of yellow crosshatched paint in front of the Howden Road juction with Kirkgate? A simple solution which should keep the traffic moving. |

How about gates up at Cringles, stop the "offcumdens" taking short cuts to Wharfedale ![]() |

Alan, isn't it a bit late to have a gate at Cringles if they are going to Wharfedale - they will have already gone through Silsden! |

wondered how many people that object to more housing development in silsden know that surveyors have been down sykes lane looks like another development which can only mean one thing, More housing and more traffic turning on and off the main rod |
