I think because of his age you do no need a rod licience but for the cannal you have to have a day ticket from the shop in silsden pop in and ask. PS this time of year its very cold for him wait till summer |

A good place to get him started would be the Trout Farm up Kilnsey, many happy days out there when I was a bit younger. |

Think he will need a rod licence.
Raygill is good at Lothersdale, nice pleasant coarse fishing.
GeeTees will help no doubt. |

The Post Office sells rod licences, they will tell you. Alternatively look on the Enviromental Agency website. |

To quote -
Anglers (aged 12 years or over) fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England (except the River Tweed), Wales or the Border Esk and its tributaries in Scotland, must have an Environment Agency rod licence.
BUT just to add you need TWO licences. One a rod licence, and the other a permit for the fishery. GeeTee will sell permits for the canal, commercial fisheries usually sell them on the bank. |
