Having tried everything its time to ask for help. In order to put pressure on Bradford Council to get the yellow paint out please if you see a problem please can you send details to

silsdenafc@hotmail.co.uk

If you can include photographs that would be better still.

If you can leave your contact details I will forward the e-mails to ward councillors and the Highways Department and of course whoever is our MP.

With your help we might just get some movement

Sunday the 22nd March - double parking and parking on the pavement causing serious issues with pedestrians, car doors opening on to on coming traffic. Difficulty for large vehicles to pass each other safely.

I would go further in insisting a member of either the police or the PCSO attended on match/event days. Anyone parking on the opposite side of the road should get a ticket. If parking on the old mill site is an option, then that should be used. If it is a smaller event, marshals should insist that people people should park on Ings Way and walk to the venue. It is, after all, a sporting venue (in most cases). This situation has gone on for far too long. Standards of parking leave a LOT to be desired. Enough is enough!

Yes Ingsway is too far away for most people.Belton Road is better but there is only room for parking on one side or that causes problems

I'm afraid putting contact details on to an open forum like this is never a good idea - just opens you up to spam and telemarketers. I'm more than happy to sign an on-line petition. I'm also happy to join in any demo asking Brad Met to do something. We do need to get this dangerous parking sorted before we have a fatality.

sorry, I mean Belton Road, not Ings Way.

No Gazzer, neither streets are parking lots. Neither is the main exit/entrance to Silsden! As I said earlier, if parking is obtainable at the Riverdale mill site, then that should be used for as long as possible, even if there is a charge made to the club or its followers.

You can not ticket anyone for parking legally at the side of the road.

I cannot believe that only a handful of people have signed this petition. Gazzzer has gone to a lot of trouble to draw this petition up and make it easy for people to sign, it only takes a couple of minutes. There are always lots of people complaining whenever the subject of parking and the football club comes up, so now is your chance to try and help the problem. By the way I am not associated with the football club, but I do applaud anything which gives youngsters chance to enjoy a sport. Please just take a couple of minutes and sign.

Perhaps the rest of Silsden don't get out of bed on a Sunday morning, or at least they don't use Keighley Road between 9.30am and 12.00pm on a Sunday.

Please sign the petition and help the football club get the traffic contol they need to police the bad parking.

It could be you are using the same computer, same account, and the computer has a cookie which stops you from registering again. You need a valid email address to register because you have to confirm your vote.

in the meantime on busy days when the sports club has a big event, maybe they should pay to use the field where the car boots are held and direct people to park there and charge them a minimum fee to get some money back there seems to be enough cars parked about to make it viable.
or am i thinking too hard

good idea clashster but its owned by m jackson so would poss want too much rent to make it feasable, and i very much doubt they would wave the fee for the local sports club ,but it could be worth a try,ps has anyone involved with the sports club gone down this avenue??

We have thought of this and other options but several problems.

The first, and biggest, as Gazzer said in another post, we would need volunteers, minimum 5, end of Belton road, by club gates, entrance to field all dircting, then 2 collecting and showing supporters where to park.

Next is if it rains we could not use it.

Also with free parking outside the ground who could stop them parking there?

Many thanks for the input clasher, had the Tesco plan come to fruition the owners would have given us a 44 car, car park, and with the 40 car, car park we had most would have been sorted, just a few outside the ground and few on Belton Road

I have spent a considerable amount of time researching on this subject and I would stress I am not knocking anyone or any organisation...

Normally when a planning application is submitted for a sports club development, parking for participants is part of the submission, and hence part of the acceptance or otherwise.

I quite understand that the parking available down at the sports grounds is sufficient for the normal numbers attending football and cricket matches, but if a special event is taking place i.e. tournament that involves many teams, or a high profile unscheduled game, the onus is on the club not the council or police to provide safe and appropriate parking.

Without the numbers attending multi team tournaments the road is quite wide, the speed limits are appropriate and the traffic flows freely. The revenue to the Sports Club is obviously important but I do feel this needs a rethink...maybe spend a little to hire parking on the Belton Road estate?

I welcome your comments. On occasions the club have sought and used additional parking at Habisit, Riverside Works and even the farmers field opposite.
I have been to well over 2,500 professional football games from Scotland to Monoco, Holland to Maderia and all points in between plus many non and semi professional games. In the UK the police and local authority oversee off site parking. However you are correct the councils highways dept should have forseen the need for parking restrictions and it would be helpfull if they could sort it out now,

Well if the committee had spent a little more money on there car park (making it bigger) instead of spending it on the bar in the first place, this problem MIGHT not have happened OR it would have at least reduced the number of vehicles doubling parking on the main road and Belton road.

It was nice to see the club was making an effort with the parking last night for whatever was going on.

With parking on the grounds and restricted parking around the entrance AND someone on the gate. happy :)happy :)happy :)

A start!!!!

There is usually someone on the gate until the car park is full. Junior games combined with the 1st team playing league leaders and Wembley bound Glossop who brought around 150 supporters led to a large attendence..
The ground has dried enough now to allow parking on the grass.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, all comments are appreciated.
There is no spare land without losing a pitch. The bar area is a small part of the facility which includes 4 football and 2 cricket changing rooms plus changing rooms for refs/umpire,an office, physio room, plant room and disabled facilities.
I think its unfair to suggest a lot of money was spent on the bar without asking first. Those who provided grants in addition to football/cricket clubs own money were quite specific on the facilities that should be provided and would not allow money to be spent on a "bar" at the expense of sporting facilities.
