Hi All,

looking for advice and opinions on the very poor quality of the 'making good' of the road surface on bolton road following the recent digging up by the electric company(?).

First, can anyone tell me for certain who has been digging the road up? I particular the bit where you exit Bell Square and just below outside the Bai Tong.

One of the few bits of decent road surface ruined by contractors not being able to fill their hole in and finish the surface properly.

Who is responsible for these road works and what obligations do they have for making the road surface good again? Is this something that is subject to legislation like the Highways Act or something?

I may be turning into a grumpy old man but I'm fed up with sub-par work being put up with and I won't just shrug my shoulders any more.

What does everyone else thing and what can I do and we do to get this fixed?

Jonno.

The bit they have just done through Kirkgate has been resurfaced to a high quality, and they have even repainted the white lines! However, the Bolton Road section has just had a skim repair surface put over which is breaking up, and already has some potentially dangerous potholes.

I suspect Bolton Road is scheduled for resurfacing - nothing has been done about the road subsidence just up from the Bell Square junction either. But and this is the big BUT WHEN will the road be resurfaced. I think the electricity contractors should have made a bit more effort at repairing the road than the token of a smear of tarmac.

There are some nice tramlines (and potholes) up Bolton Road with the potential to cause an accident.

Come on guys who do we send our insurance claims to?

I just contacted bradford council highways dept on 01274 435700 and advised them that the road surface had not been replaced to a proper standard following the cable laying(?) on Bolton Road and Kirkgate(?).

The guy took all my details and said he would pass them on to the person who would find out who did the work and arrange to get them to come back and sort it out.

Perhaps if some more people called and registered their disatisfaction it might get things moving a bit faster?

HB, I'm not sure which road Bridge Road is but if it is in bad repair call the council on the number in the above post. In the past I have had them come and repair 'pot-holes' in the road outside my house (when I lived in Keighley). Althought they did have to come 4 times before they put a 'proper' patch over it.

If we can't get them to do anything about Hillcrest Avenue and the one behind the Co-op at least we can make them patch up the adopted roads that are the councils responsibility.
