There are kids on powered motorbikes riding around the park at considerable speed. These are not toy bikes these are scaled versions of competetive trials bikes. If these were adults they would be condemned and accused of commiting a crime. I doubt these bikes have any insurance at all, what happens if they hit another child? This cannot be legal.

Can you please bring this to the attention of the powers that be.
I have tried to report it using this internet forum:

More information posted on behalf of Marjorie

I will call the police next time i see them, this is not the first time they have been there.

But after what I saw last night I will call the police immediately as the men who had brought them in a white van were very abusive and threatened an man walking a dog when they were putting the bikes back into the van. I didnt see what happened but they were calling this man some terrible names and threatening him with violence, it is very unfair how some people can be so rude and use so bad language in front of their children.

I will call the police but I dont hold much hope that they will take it seriously until a child or dog or pensioner is injured.

But I bet if they went on the bowling green they would be out like a shot.

....and an update on the update

I have tried that 101 number that Lesley suggested in the past and I gave up, I may as well have driven to Ilkley or down to Keighley to report it as what good it did calling that number.

Someone else could have seen them and what they said to that poor man was uncalled for and disgusting in front of children, but we know how they will grow up poor mites. I am so annoyed with myself for not taking down the number of their van but I had my dog with me and she was upset by them whizzing around that I didn't think. Next time I walk her there I will be prepared.

Good for you Marjorie... keep at it, these people need sorting out... abusing local people like this should not be tolerated. I hope the police do something about it. Maybe STC should be taking this one up?

Maybe if we had a police officer or station in Silsden, this wouldn't happen.... After all, we are still paying increasing taxes, for declining services.

The 101 number is totally useless, the police officers attending STC meetings openly admit this, so why isn't something done about it?

Bikes in the park is nothing new, as well as dogs let run riot in public places. Unfortunately, abusive low lives are in the increase, which is a result of too many houses and total loss of community spirit.

what about getting in touch with the council parks department, as far as I am aware, they have a motorcycle patrol visiting parks to keep a check on bad behaviour, they might have more sway with the police. Also if you go to the police website you can report via that or have an online discussion, I have done that before when I could not get through on the number

If anybody can get the reg of the white van? It will give the Police more to go on.
No need to confront the men.

Just wanted to add to this to give the other side of the story as this is not all true! I personally know the people mentioned that own the silver van (not white) and there both up standing local lads! Both were up at the park with there sons who were on electric trials bikes not loud motorbikes as this suggests, which are legal to use in the park! Also things only got heated after the guy that complained firstly did so directly to the young kids in this case are only 6 and 7yr old by swearing at them! And thats when their dad took offence to his child being spoken to in a manner that was unacceptable! Cheers!

Fair enough they maybe shouldnt be in the park with them, bit daft really as they go no faster than somebody tearing around on push bikes, my point wasnt so much about the bikes it was more to do with how the 2 lads were being portrayed, if they had been spoken too in a civilised manner they wouldnt have had a problem with listening and taking into account the grievances of the gentleman but to talk to the children the way he did was out of order and could only have provoked the response he got.

So now it has been settled that these kids on bikes should not be in the park, will we no longer be seeing them there?

Why would you allow kid's in a park anyway, thought parks were a place fer old folk to let their dogs squat.
