There are some at the top of Elliot Street. Don't know much about them, but there is a post about them. Go on 'Forum Index', then 'I'm Looking For...', then the second page. The post is third from the top, the last post is dated: 31/12/2006 : 20:46:32.

Hope this helps.

Coby1,

When you say the tip do you mean the Green up Bradley Road ?, I have been in Silsden for 40 years so far (since i was born) and cannot recall any allotments up there, although I only live down the road from it.

The only allotments I know of are are on the Elliot St side of the canal, Top of Bolton Road, and the 'pens' by the canal

Think they're the private ones, try the Deputy Mayor - Cllr Savage - think he has some contacts.

His details are on the town council link. You will ned to telephone him, he doesn't use computers happy :)

posted on meaningless consultation on dradishaw road thread by Bob T
Just to put you in the picture pumbajunior re the allotments at the bottom of dradishaw road /elliot st .The first ones behind the old folks home are owned and run by Silsden allotment association the second ones behind Cobbydale court are privately owned by the Chadwick family and the third ones ,halfway up Woodside Rd on the left are the Bradford Met owned ones ,Hpoe this helps you in your quest for an allotment

does anoyone have any details of were to contact for the other 2 allotment associations?

The waiting list for allotments in Silsden is huge! We should be pushing for the green land at Dradishaw Road to be used for this purpose - never mind the 'consultation people' saying no (without explanation).
And take a look at this week's Craven Herald (page six) which says the Big Lottery Fund has just announced £50 million worth of grants to create new allotment!

the land off dradishaw road will be no good for allotments as the old silsden council had the land filled with quary bottoms to form a wagon park and it was well compacted down

Allotments suddenly seem to be popular. Something to do with rising food prices?

Maybe we should all start looking at what we can do. My t'other half bought a book on growing food in pots on our patio style garden.

I have land available for allotment use in the grounds of a care home
in Sutton In Craven. There is no rental charge, but, our residents need
to be able to watch the progress.we would not need any of the produce
either.

Think there might be a bloke with an allotment on Woodside Road that sells them , I know he sells potted plants and trays, that kind of thing. Nearest garden centre is probably Gargrave.

Hi plumbajunior I have an allotment woodside rd BradMet owned. I am finding it too big so may possibly sub let half of the plot, not too sure if I should do this though, may need to get permission from council. I do know that quite a few of them are sublet, can any of the local councillors enlighten me please.
