What ever happened to free speech? corkyyorky Peter has worked very hard for many years to get this web site up and running and made it what it is, At the end of the day he is responsible for all that is posted on it so if you are not happy with the way it is run SHUT UP or go and have a go at setting up your own web site  (Good luck with that then) |

the website is very useful and informative , I do get the impression though that on certain topics peter is overly defensive towards the town council, why is this? also he states that the beck topic has been done to death, that's his opinion, there might be some people who have never seen this topic before because they have only just started using the site, I know of a few people who have stopped using it because they feel like they are "ganged up on" and bullied. The beck is of interest to most people in silsden and had I not read the latest post I would not have known about the enforcement order, this is information that is of interest to people living in silsden, how else would they have found out? I cannot see anything in the council minutes about it.I think it was wrong to close the topic |

The Town Council (or should I say we the council tax payers) pay in the area £240 per year towards web hosting (check out November 2014, 2013 etc ,minutes), so I don't think the site will ever be totally impartial. I am not having a go at Peter or anybody here, I operate several websites and know it can be a time consuming and thankless task. The website is great but perhaps the forum moderation could be moderated a bit |

Damned if I do, damned if I don't I attended the Silsden Town Council meeting as a member of the public. I have posted the information about the the beck project and the current status. There is no point in discussing the merits of completing the project, or putting the beck back to as it was on this forum until the enforcement result is known. Until a decision is made about the enforcement STC cannot, and should not make any decision about the future of the project. Even if the enforcement is declared invalid it is by no means certain what will happen because STC will have to make the decision on how the project should be concluded. It will cost money to remove and repair, it will cost money to complete the project, the council have estimates for both scenarios. Don't forget we are coming up for a LOCAL ELECTION (as well as a national election on 7 May), there are a few people who may want to make political gain from this project. |

well said peter, everybody who moans about silsden or even Bradford who wants change , the election is in may so put your name forward and make a difference if you think you can. I await all you putting your names forward (I wont hold my breathe though) get elected to Bradford and you will get paid, not a lot but its still money every month. so come on and take up the challenge,you never know it may be better than staying at home looking after the kids, use some of your money to pay for child care and spread the money round even more. |

well gardenwood your kinda right,,,he certainly has weight,,,lol,,,,and yes might well have another beer after a takeaway,,,BUT,,,you also forgot to mention as a silsden,,,UNPAID...councelor,,,he can be seen,helping with xmas est,,bandstand,,,was he i believe who moved stones back down botton when travlers broke in,,,,need i go on,,,,, he might not a shirt n tie,elite,focus group type,but hes a dammed good worker for silsden,,and yes,,,,for nowt,,,,, might have a big belly,,but if hearts as big will do,,,, |

i was guessing. i'v never met the bloke.i have'nt the faintest idea what he looks like, but by the way i read his comments thats the impression i get. it sounds great that he has done alot for the town. so have i if you put it that way... we could all do more. it was in response to him having a clear dig at people who stay at home to look after their children... thats not right . maybe he has a reason for it , who knows. |

 Councillor Chris Atkinson Ward Councillor and Mayor of Silsden I don't believe Skippy was having a go at anyone in particular (and definitely not you gardenwood). The problem is there are lots of people with good ideas but unwilling to do something about it. All talk and no do. There are local and national elections coming up and there will be lots of people providing good advice in the next couple of months. Chris is a doer for the good of the community and for Silsden in particular, he should be supported. |

I'm not having a "go" at anyone, but in defence of Skippy, there should be more like him. A good, caring, and hardworking chap that cares about Silsden and its inhabitants. I certainly didn't get the impression he was having a pop at anyone, just stating fact, we all moan about things but do nothing about them, Chris on the other hand takes the bull by the horns and does his best to sort it. |

this post has been edited 3 time(s) good idea gazzer,lets see em all,it certainly does`nt bother me, shame peter cant make site users use there proper name they register with,instead of all these new alias`s that keep coming up from people who have been sussed out on their previous alias and dont want to be known,only peter knows who they are.PS if folk in silsden did 5% for silsden of what skippy does it would make it a better place,i have myself been on and organised beck and playing field litter clean ups but due to accident and op am now limited. |

i helped raise 53000 pounds for a skate park and trials park. infact i was an integral part of the fund raising,planning and design... and i do 15+ mile walks for fun. including walks around silsden regularly. id love to meet you all. pubs arent really my thing... only the kings arms- best pub in town |

What I said reads just fine Peter. And I rightly called that councillor or a comment he made.... I am not the only one who's comments may not read well. Maybe you should read the full thread too. I think people can use their brains enough to understand a little short hand... The Internet has been around long enough now for people to adjust |

gardenwood you seem to have a problem with mr atkinson,and indeed me who tried a little light banner with nowt wrong wi rieght folk est, now i dont know who hides behind any name or how many they have,,,for me ive only had 1 and will remain with so,you say you dont know skippy ,,,,well allow me to help you a little cos i do know his history,,hes born n bred in silsden,,of generations of silsden folk,his late dad trevor was like him a true gentleman,,,,, if you have problem with working guys then you will never get skippy,,but if you look solely at his record what hes done for silsden then youll realise why so many locals respect him,,,only tring to be of help gardenwood so as you dont need to visit the pub to find the history,, hope it help you |
